Hannah Techman, a senior at Twin Valley High School, has been named November’s Intern of the Month.

Techman spends her internship at Tel Hai Retirement Community in Honey Brook with a speech pathologist. Every day Techman does something different. On occasion Techman works with residents during breakfast to make sure they are swallowing efficiently and receiving a good intake of food. She also spends time working to help achieve their individual speech goals.

“My favorite part of my internship is working with my mentor, Kristina Bendyk. She really does a great job providing me with information that is leading me in the right direction for many aspects of my future, including choosing a college and looking for a profession,” said Techman.

She recommends this internship to anyone who is interested in working with the elderly because of the stories they tell and how much someone can learn from them.

“From the empathetic care she exhibits to residents, to her consistent enthusiasm for new learning, Hannah has been a delight at Tel Hai. She has reminded many of us, what a privilege it is to enjoy a profession where we may make a positive impact on our community on a daily basis,” said Kristina Bendyk.

Techman plans on continuing in this field of work and majoring in speech and language pathology in college. The internship has helped Techman realize how much she enjoys this profession and her wish to pursue this career.
