DATE CHANGE: Note that the Hamburg Area Historical Society has changed their meeting time and date from the first week of the month on Thursday, to the second week on Friday. They will meet Friday, Nov. 13 at 1:30 p.m. for a special assembly with the High School students. Visitors may check in at the High School Office. Veterans will be honored.

Guided Gallery Walks: On Saturday, Nov. 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., galleries will be open to the public and guided gallery walks by Lisa Minardi will be offered at intervals throughout the day. There is also a lecture and book signing by Jack Ross on the Socialist Party in America at 10 a.m. There is a charge.

PA German Folk Art Lecture: Saturday, Dec. 12 at 10 a.m. Lecture to be given by Lisa Minardi, followed by a book signing. There is a charge.

Benefit Auction: Saturday, Dec. 12. On-site auction by Pook & Pook Auctioneers. Enjoy a unique opportunity to bid on objects approved for deaccessioning by the board of trustees of the Berks History Center in a special on-site sale. All proceeds to benefit the museum’s acquisition and conservation fund. Auction preview begins at 11:30 a.m. Auction at 2 p.m. Free admission. Food/beverages for purchase.

UpcomingChristmas Tree Sale: The Shoemakersville Fire Company will begin their annual Christmas Tree Sale on Black Friday. It will continue until Christmas. Hours are Fridays (5 to 8 p.m.). Saturdays (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Sundays (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) located at 300 Church Avenue in Shoemakersville.

Nov. 11Hamburg Area School District 6th Annual Breakfast for Veterans: 8:30 a.m. in High School Cafeteria. Members of the Hamburg community that have served or are serving in any branch of the military are invited to a free breakfast to recognize their contributions. The High School choir, Ariel Boundaries, will perform as well as a guest speaker who will share his military stories after breakfast. Hunting for History along the Schuylkill River: with Kurt D. Zwikl, former executive director of the Schuylkill River Heritage Area. 7 p.m. Kempton Fire Company Social Hall, 2641 Route 143, Kempton. Mr. Zwikl will share what he has found that makes the Schuylkill River’s history, our history, unique. Free and open to public. Free desserts and coffee. Donations, which will benefit Kempton Lions Club’s charitable projects, will be accepted at the door.

Three varieties (smooth, wire and longhair) in both miniature and standard sizes shown. Dogs vying for American Kennel Club points toward AKC championship and for ultimate Best of Breed.
