Kutztown High School Leo ClubMostly Muttz Donations: At this time of year, when thoughts turn to charitable works, the Leo Club at KAHS asks you not to forget our furry friends! The club is once again assisting Mostly Muttz, an organization focused on saving the lives of healthy, adoptable mixed-breed dogs. The club is asking anyone who can to drop off the following items at the high school: canned food, treats/bones, blankets, dog clothing, unused/stainless food and water bowls, unused toys, leashes/collars, soap/shampoo and brushes/combs. Friend, Inc.Thanksgiving Food Drive: In partnership with Fleetwood Bank, Friend, Inc. is asking the community to show thankfulness this holiday season by feeding those in need in our community. Non-perishable food items can be placed in collection boxes located at any Fleetwood Bank branch office. Items needed are pasta, rice, cereal, macaroni and cheese, pasta sauce and canned soups and fruits.

German Advent Candlelight Service: Huff’s Union Church will hold this communion worship service at 7 p.m. The church is located at 540 Conrad Road, Alburtis. Bulletins in both German and English will be available. The service is in high German. Offering supports the EKU-UCC Forum. A good way to hear German spoken for those who are studying German in high school or college.
Dec. 8Berks Encore Senior Orchestra: The Senior Orchestra will perform a free concert at St. Paul’s UCC in Kutztown at 6 p.m. Berks Encore’s orchestra began in 1981 and has continued to attract skilled musicians who enjoy sharing their skills and talents with audiences of all ages. This concert is open to everyone as part of a night of music and holiday greetings. A freewill offering will be taken. Cookies and coffee will follow the performance.
Dec. 11Kutztown Folk Music Society: Presents Russ Rentler, a multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter playing original songs on hammer dulcimer, guitar mandolin, autoharp, dobro, ukulele and banjo. He has played at Musikfest, Mayfair, Godfrey Daniels Coffehouse and one of his songs was featured on NPR’s Car Talk. His mix of humourous songs and stories is interspersed with free medical advice.
