“This will be the generation to defeat hate. #NoTolerance. We know what we need to do, spread #Love like wildfire. Share a smile, say hello, evaporate hate with the force of Love. United we stand family. Here we go,” posted Kevin Onedr on Facebook following the Nov. 13 Paris attacks.
Musician Kevin Onedr, locally known as Kevin Ostromecki – a 2012 graduate of Boyertown Senior High School – is in Europe right now promoting his music and his message.
“There’s a potential to change people in this music and message rooted in love,” says Kevin.
Kevin and I spoke two days prior to the attacks. He’s currently on a self-titled U.K. tour which began in Munich on Sept. 19. On Sept. 26 he performed in Paris, and now he’s performing throughout London.
“It feels like there’s a magnet pulling this whole thing. It feels good. It’s a phenomenon, a loving force, a truth. It’s making my life full – I want you to feel that too. The bigger it gets – it can change the whole world”
The tour brings international awareness to his music project, the message of which is to spread love, and Kevin says there is no stopping it.
Performing a couple of shows a week, Kevin is seeking out different venues such as open mics and spoken word events (in addition to his pre-selected tour). For each performance, he tailors his product accordingly.
With networking underway, he says it “spiderwebs from there.”
“Europe is so great – so supportive and in tune with the arts,” he says. “I’m becoming myself more and more.”
Throughout this journey, he’s learning to demonstrate the universal qualities of his project.
“Kevin Onedr is growing into what it’s supposed to be.”
He says Paris was the most inspiring. “It’s the place where great artists have been inspired.”
“Every place has its own vibe and feel. It’s making me have to adapt,” he says, noting how he’s headed to the Netherlands and Barcelona after London.
He describes his shows in Europe as “interactive performances,” where the goal is to have the audience present and in the moment with him. “The project is to inspire – encourage you to listen to love and listen to your voice. Viewing life as it is.”
In the past six months – he says the project is blossoming and there will be a heavy push when he comes back to the states in December. A U.S. tour is in the works. In the meantime, he welcomes everyone to check out his music and his project at <www.kevinonedr.com>.
“I’m doing everything I can,” he said, mentioning public performances in the square. “I don’t waste time – ever. With the magnitude of this journey – I’m capitalizing on everything. Now’s the time.”
