For the third year in a row – One local women’s club is holding a prom dress drive for girls in need.

The Boyertown Junior Women’s Club has announced that they will hold their annual local dress drive “Once Upon a Prom” for the third year.

The success of the event is dependent on those willing to donate gently used prom and other formal dresses, who can in turn give another young lady the chance to experience the prom. BJWC will be accepting new or gently used long and short dresses that are clean and in good condition. In addition, they will collect purses, jewelry, wraps and other accessories. Collections will be accepted through Saturday, Feb. 27.

Aside from donations, we invite girls from the surrounding area to attend the event, try on dresses, and take one home. A small monetary donation may be given, but will be optional. Once Upon a Prom will take place at Miracles in Motion Dance Studio, 1145 E. Philadelphia Avenue, Gilbertsville on the following dates: March 5, March 6, March 12 and March 13, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.

The event is aimed to help give girls a memorable prom experience. For some young ladies, buying the dress can be a financial burden. The club would like to help those girls, who may not have otherwise had the chance, purchase a dress for a magical evening.

To inquire about dress donations, contact Anita Zuber at 610-858-1351 or Joanne Pritchard at 610-506-6290. Donations can also be taken to Zuber Realty, located at 201 E. Philadelphia, Boyertown.
