Celebrate National Library Week: April 11-16, visit the library each day to participate in a trivia contest and be entered to win prizes. Enjoy refreshments with us at different times during the week as well.

Kutztown Community Library

Bus Trips: The Library is sponsoring 2 bus trips. On April 5, Sight and Sound Theatre to see “Samson” followed by a lunch buffet at Shady Maple Smorgasbord. Cost includes bus fare, lunch buffet, snacks and tips. On May 3, Three Generations of Wyeth. Brandywine River Museum of Art and the Museum Cafe. Guided tours of N.C. Gourmet Food & Wine NYC Bus Trip: April 2, 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Bus trip will stop at The Vinegar Factory, Zabars, Eataly and the Chelsea Market. You can also use this as just a free day in NYC. Tickets may be purchased at the library.

Yoga Classes: beginning April 4, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Svaroopa Yoga, an introductory level taught by Ellen Rosenkrantz. Register at the library for all five classes. Ages 16 and up. Limited amount of space available.

Family Storytime: April 6, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Join us for a few good books, a craft and lots of fun for the whole family. Miss Krista and Miss Joyce are in charge of the fun. April showers bring May flowers, so tonight we will hear about Puddles and Worms.

Storytime with Miss Jenny: April 9, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Preschool, elementary and older children are welcome. Get to know a new author each time, and there is always a craft to make and take home. Today’s author is Pat Hutchins.

Wine and Chocolate: April 9, 6-8 p.m. Join us for this social chance to sample wonderful foods from local eateries and wine from some of the finest wineries in the area. Please call or stop in to purchase your tickets. We have moved this annual event from winter to spring in hopes of having better weather.

Rohrbach Library at KU

Hex Sign/Barn Stars Workshops: with Patrick Donmoyer of KU’s Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center. Attendees will create their own hex sign/barn star, and hear an instructive talk on the history and lore of barn stars. Four workshops will take place at STEAMworks in room 18 at the library. Dates are April 6 (6-8 p.m.), April 7 (1-3 p.m.), April 20 (10 a.m. to noon) and April 21 (5-7 p.m.). Seats limited. Free and open to the public, and preregistration is required. Kutztown Folk Music Society: presents Sarajane Williams, at St. John’s UCC, 257 W. Walnut St., Kutztown. The ancient art and modern science of therapeutic harp music is currently transforming conventional health care and is being used in medical treatments and scientific research. Know Your Symphony Lecture Series: As prelude to Saturday’s performance of the Reading Symphony Orchestra, Joe Horowitz, author and producer, will discuss the Dvorak concert, featuring renowned vocalist Kevin Deas. The concert will include the “New World Symphony.” Discussion will be at 7:30 p.m. in the Highlands at Wyomissing. There is a nominal ticket fee.
