WW II-era Marine veteran celebrates 100th birthday

Pennsylvania State Rep. Mark M. Gillen, R-128th Dist., helped celebrate World War II-era Marine veteran Florence Alva Bieber’s 100th birthday. Bieber is a southern Berks County resident who had a long military career and attained the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps Women’s Reserve, the Corps’ highest non-commissioned officer rank. Rep. Gillen, who also serves as secretary of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee, said he was honored to attend Bieber’s 100th birthday party.
