Donna J. Jones Donna J. Jones, age 66, of Lenhartsville, entered into rest on June 16, 2013 (Father’s Day) with family at her side at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. She was the wife of David M. Jones.

She was born in York on February 28, 1947, the oldest daughter of the late Chalmers H. Hoover and Evelyn L. Strausbaugh Hoover.

Donna was a 1965 graduate of Cedar Cliff High School, Camp Hill.

Her aspiration to be a homemaker since her early high school years was her chosen gift for life. Donna was a proud homemaker who expressed her love to her family and friends in many ways. She always placed others before her self and was unselfish, sharing her time, talents and kind words. She was extremely passionate about her crafts, decorating her home year round, especially for holidays and preparing meals for family and friends. Donna found great joy in creating yearly Christmas ornaments, Halloween costumes and just about anything else for her grandchildren.

She was locally employed at the Greenery of Morgantown in Fleetwood and Blandon for many years as a sales manager and crafts teacher. Her crafts and decorating ideas were appreciated by all. As a hobby, she also participated in local craft shows in Kutztown and Fleetwood.

Donna is survived by her husband David and two children: Dr. Mark Mazziotti husband of Gretchen Mazziotti of Houston, Texas and Candi (Barwinski) Gassaway wife of Norman Gassaway of Fleetwood. She also has four grandchildren: Kristine and John Mazziotti of Houston, and Noah and Jonah Barwinski, Fleetwood. Other survivors include a sister Deborah Hoover of York Haven.

A Celebration of Donna’s Life will be held Sunday June 30 at 1 p.m. from the Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, 117 West Main Street, Fleetwood. Interment will be private.

Madeline Irene Kauffman Madeline Irene (Yeakley) Kauffman, 81 of Shillington died of natural causes in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest Friday, June 21st. She was born in Reading and was the daughter of the late Ray Russell and Irene (Burrell) Yeakley.

She was a homemaker for most her life. She was a pianist for Act 1 Productions, Berks County for 15 years. She was also pianist at Reading Wesleyan Church, Reading for many years as well as other churches.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin R. Kauffman on January 21st, 2004. She was also predeceased by two siblings Joan Donato, and Ray Yeakley.

Madeline is survived by two sons, Michael R. husband of Jacquelyn Kauffman of Wyomissing and Scott M. Kauffman of Shillington; two daughters, Natalie L. Pingitore wife of Gregory of Sinking Spring and Debra I. wife of Rodney Wahl of Perry Township.

Additional survivors include sisters, June wife of Vincent Drogo of Laureldale, Rae Catherine wife of Joseph Wein of Wyomissing, Dorothy widow of Harry Freeman of Bethel, Helen wife of Terry Kelichner of Mohrsville and a brother, Robert Yeakley of Bethel. Madeline is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday from Zion’s Church, Windsor Castle with Pastor Rand Bond officiating. Burial in Berks County Memorial Gardens.

Mary A. Standeven Mary A. Standeven, 75 of Leesport died June 19 in Country Meadows, Wyomissing. She was the widow of Ivan Robert Standeven who died July 20, 2001.

Mary was born in Philadelphia and was the daughter of the late Antoni and Adela Luczejko.

She was a 1955 graduate of Roxborough High School.

Mary worked 25 years as a claims processor for Germantown Insurance Company retiring in 2000.

She was a member of St. Mary R.C. Church, Hamburg.

Mary is survived by a daughter, Mary C. (Standeven) Richart, Chalfont, a son, Robert C. husband of Lisa Standeven, Cape May Court House, NJ. She is also survived by a daughter, Kathy (Standeven) wife of Jerry Grindrod, Leesport.

She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and sister Irene Luczejko, Cape May Court House, NJ.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday from St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 94 Walnut Road, PO Box 189, Hamburg, PA. 19526. Burial in George Washington Memorial Park, Plymouth Meeting.

Nevin R. Levan Nevin R. Levan, 71, of Hamburg, passed away on Tuesday in St. Joseph Hospital, Reading.

Born in Greenwich Township on July 11, 1941, he was the son of the late Robert J. and Marie M. (Schlegel) Levan. He was a member of St. Paul’s Smoke Church, Edenburg. Nevin worked as a truck driver for Peter Bros. Meats, Lenhartsville, for over 24 years, retiring in 1997.

In addition to his parents, Nevin was preceded in death by brother, Kenneth Levan.

Nevin is survived by his wife, Sharon L. (Correll); two daughters: Denise E. Clouser, of Hamburg and Diann L. Levan, of Mohrsville; three sons: Dean A., Dennis L. and Daren N. Levan, all of Hamburg; ten grandchildren; one great grandson; two sisters: Sandra A. Kline and Dana M. Oakes, both of Reading; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held June 22 at Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc., 38-40 S. Fourth St., Hamburg. Interment in Berks County Memorial Gardens will be private at the convenience of the family. Bruce A. Reifsnyder Bruce A. Reifsnyder, 55, of Bernville, loving husband, son, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away Wednesday June 19th in his residence, surrounded by his family, following a courageous six month battle with cancer.

He was married to Diane ‘DeeDee’ B. (Evans) Reifsnyder.

Born in Savannah, GA, he was the son of William H. and Peggy A. (VonDohren) Reifsnyder of Bernville.

He was most recently employed by Summit Steel of Reading for eight years.

Formerly he was employed by the former Northeastern Distributing in Wyomissing for over twenty years.

He was a 1975 graduate of Wyomissing High School where he was a member of the Wyomissing High School County Championship Golf Team from 1971 until 1975. He continued to enjoy playing golf throughout his life.

He attended the University of Maryland.

He was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church in Wyomissing.

He was a member of the Strausstown Rod and Gun Club and Northkill Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed working around and renovating his home. He also enjoyed renovating and helping his family and friends with their homes.

Additional survivors include his children, Adam Reifsnyder, husband of Heather of Wernersville, Ben and Amiee Reifsnyder both of Exeter Twp., and two step daughters, Heather and Kayla Shirey both of Bernville.

There is one grandchild, Sarah Reifsnyder and three step grandchildren, Caira Stevenson and Savannah and Chloe Shirey.

He is also survived by two sisters, Joan, wife of John Lundin of Scranton and Anne Dean of Bechtelsville.

Funeral services were June 24 in the Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main St., Bernville with Vicar Thomas J. Scornavacchi officiating. Interment will be private. Ethel C. Wisser Ethel C. Wisser, 83, of Lenhartsville, died Tuesday, June 18, 2013 in the Reading Hospital. She was the wife of Donald W. Wisser, died October 17, 2011.

Born in West Macungie, Lehigh Co., she was the daughter of the late John A. and Adda V. (Trexler) Gorr. She was a 1947 graduate of Emmaus High School. Ethel worked as an office clerk for Suburban Propane, Lenhartsville, from 1969 until retiring April 1, 1992. She was a member of Frieden’s Church, Lenhartsville. She was also a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church Senior Friends, Krumsville; and the Virginville Senior Citizens. Ethel enjoyed gardening, cooking and visiting with people. When she was younger, Ethel also enjoyed sewing and knitting.

Surviving is one son: Mark A. Wisser, Lenhartsville; and one daughter: Karen W. (Wisser), wife of Jim P. Buckland, Clinton, South Carolina. Ethel was predeceased by one brother: Donald Gorr.

Donald C. Deppen Donald C. Deppen, 79, formerly of Bern Twp. and a resident of Berks Heim since July of 2011, passed away June 18, 2013 in Reading Hospital. He was the husband of Jean L. (Rider) Deppen. Born in Temple on May 19, 1934 he was a son to the late Lloyd J. and Eva (Goho) Deppen.

Donald was employed for 31 years as a tow motor operator at Dana Corp.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter Gail D. (Deppen) wife of Samuel Pettit, Jr. of West Lawn; a son Steven D. Deppen, husband of Margaret (Muckel) Deppen of Salamanca, NY; 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and a sister Loretta (Deppen) Huber of Shillington. He was predeceased by two sisters Betty (Deppen) Rosencrans and Lucy (Deppen) Ferreri and a brother Lloyd ‘Buddy’ Deppen.

Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking in the mountains and golfing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play in sporting events.

Services were Monday in Bean Funeral Home, Sinking Spring. Interment followed in Gethsemane Cemetery.

Donald E. Walton, Jr. Donald E. Walton, Jr., 59, of Greenwich Township, died Tuesday, June 18, 2013, in his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Candace E. (Miller) Walton, whom he married July 22, 1972.

Born in West Reading, he was a son of Anna V. (Seaman) Walton, Temple, and the late Donald E. Walton, Sr. Mr. Walton was a 1972 graduate of Brandywine Heights High School. He was employed as a mechanic and auto body repairman by Krumsville Auto Body for over 20 years. He was a lifetime member of Reading Motorcycle Club. Donald was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, and enjoyed taking his Corvette to local car shows.

In addition to his Wife, Candace, and Mother, Anna, he is survived by a Daughter, Amy L. Walton, Fleetwood; Son, Timothy A., husband of Cherie Walton, Kempton; Sisters, Annette, wife of John Hartz, Fleetwood, Gail, Weiss, Tuckerton, Vickie, wife of John Kendrick, Robesonia, Bambie, wife of Walter Seifrit, Reading, Melissa, wife of Timothy Manmiller, Reading, and Penni, wife of Keith Zele, Temple; 9 Grandchildren, Kyle, Steven, Tyler, Kody, Luke, Cora, Caleb, Joshua, and Cadence, and a Great Grandson, Teagan. He was pre-deceased by a Sister, Donna Carter.

Funeral Services were June 21 from Zions Church, Hamburg. Interment followed in Zions Cemetery of Perry Township.

Leon Michalowski, Sr. Leon Michalowski, Sr., 85, of Reading, passed away June 14, 2013 at 10:16 p.m. in Reading Hospital.

He is survived by his loving wife Florence M. (Kosnik) Michalowski to whom he married on April 15, 1950 and celebrated their 63 years of marriage.

Born in Reading he was the son of the late Adam and Bertha (Kovalewski) Michalowski. He was a devote Catholic and member of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church where he served as an usher. He enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises with family and friends. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was employed by Cambridge Lee(formerly Reading Tube) as a crane operator for 42 years and was employed on a part time basis by Calico Corners in the maintenance department for 20 years.

Mr. Michalowski was a loving father to Barbara A. Stehman wife of Ricky d. Stehman of Leesport, Stephan L. Michalowski husband of Deborah Michalowski of Douglassville, Leon Michalowski, Jr. husband of Cindy L. Michalowski of Sinking Spring and Gary Michalowski husband of Lisa Michalowski of Temple. He was a loving Pop Pop to Jessica L. McAllister wife of Mark McAllister, Daniel A. Hetrich, Toby C. Michalowski, Amber L. Michalowski, and Samantha E. Scholar. He is also survived by his sister Helen Nowartarski widow of John Nowartarski of Cumru Township. Mr. Michalowski was preceded in death by his siblings Adam, John, James, Victor, Edward, Frank, Raymond and Mary.

Funeral procession departed Bean Funeral Home, Shillington, on June 21. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Reading, with Rev. Richard H. Clement celebrant. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Donald R. Good Donald R. ‘Goodie’ Good, 86, of Muhlenberg Twp., passed away at home on Saturday, June 15, 2013. He was the companion of Lucy (Daub) Shomo. The couple had been together for over 20 years.

Born in Hyde Park on December 21, 1926, he was a son of the late Ralph and Lulu M. (Becker) Good.

Goodie was a U.S. Army veteran and served from 1945 to 1947. He then took over the family floral business, then known as Retail Floral Shop, and changed the name to Goodie the Florist. He enjoyed being a Muhlenberg Twp. crossing guard for 54 years. At the same time, he was also an umpire for amateur and pro baseball teams. He started in 1958 and never really did retire from it. He loved everything that had to do with baseball. He was also an avid fisher and enjoyed country music.

He was a member of the Goodwill (Hyde Park) Fire Co., Temple Fire Co. and the Berks County Umpires Association.

In addition to his companion, Lucy, Goodie is survived by three daughters, Pamela and her husband, Randy Ulrich of Mohnton, Vicky and her husband, David Astheimer of Fredrick, MD, and Cynthia Sunday of Hamburg; a stepson, Darrell Wenrich; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Goodie is predeceased by his wife, Violet M. (Brenner) Good and a brother, Franklin Good.

Donald Hahn Mr. Donald Hahn, 91, of Cumru Twp., passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at the Reading Hospital.

He was the widower of Arlene M. (Tobias) Hahn who died on May 29, 2009.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late George W. and Lillie F. (Snader) Hahn.

Mr. Hahn worked in the Engineer Department of the former American Chain and Cable Company, Inc. in Reading during the 1950 & 1960. Later he went to work for the former Manu Mine in Angelica before returning to A.C.C. Donald was a Craftsman, Machinist and Hobbyist, he could build anything. He bought a farm house in Cumru Twp., and added new additions. He built two steam driven Engines. Donald enjoyed making his own wine and baking his own bread, and as a beekeeper, collecting his own honey for more baking. He was Past President of the Hilltoppers Senior Club. Donald had a love for animals, especially for his dog Charlie. Above all else, Donald and his wife had a deep love for their children. He was a great dad!

Surviving is daughter, Darlene M. (Hahn), wife of Raz Sugarwala of Lancaster; son, Donald G., husband of Karen Hahn of Leesport; daughter Barbara L. (Hahn), wife of Barry L. Swartz of Mohnton.

Grandchildren: Jeremy J. Hahn of Mohnton; Laura J. Sugarwala of Rochester, NY; Benjamin J. Sugarwala of Charlotte, NC; and Melinda S. Swartz of Mohnton.

He was predeceased by a son, James W. Hahn on June 2, 2008, and a brother, William Hahn.

Relatives and Friends were invited to attend his Funeral Service on June 21 at Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., Mohnton.

Fred H. Vogel, Jr. Fred H. Vogel, Jr., 92, of Lebanon and formerly of Reading, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at his home.

He was the husband of the late Miriam E. Herner Vogel, and he was the companion of Joan Esbenshade of Lebanon.

Born in Hughesville on October 19, 1920, he was the son of the late Fred and Clara Hess Vogel. He retired from the Reading Tube Co., and had been an active member in the Reading Lion’s Club. Fred served in the US Air Force during WW II. He is survived by his daughters Gail A. Putt of Shoemakersville and Cheryl Lynn of FL; sister Mary Kepner of Hughesville; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Gary P. Vogel.

Funeral services were held June 21 at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Jonestown. Interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
