DONALD M. BROOKS
Donald M. Brooks, 69, formerly of Lenhartsville died on January 21, 2014 in St. Joseph’s Hospital.
He was the widower of Phoebe A. (Spiegel) Brooks who died in 1984.
Donald was born in Yonkers, NY, and was the son of the late Norbert and Hannah (Blumenthal) Brooks.
He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked for 30 years as an aide at the Hamburg Center.
Donald is survived by his son, Noah husband of Aelish Brooks, of Reading.
A celebration of Life was held Jan. 26 from the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc., Hamburg.

DONALD C. PEIFFER
Donald C. Peiffer, 76, of Lenhartsville, died suddenly Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, shortly after arrival in Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading.
He was the husband of Shirley J. (Trumbauer) Peiffer. They were married Oct. 18, 1958.
Born in Weisenberg Township, Lehigh County, he was a son of Arlene A. (Kocher) Peiffer, a resident of The Lutheran Home at Topton, and the late Charles W. Peiffer.
Mr. Peiffer was employed in the maintenance department as a carpenter by Kutztown University for more than 15 years, retiring in 2002. Prior to that, he was employed as a carpenter by Rubright Construction, Shoemakersville, for 17 years.
He was a member of Lenhartsville Fish and Game, National Rifle Association, and the AFSCME Union.
Survivors: Wife; mother; daughters, Donna J. (Peiffer) Smith, Lenhartsville, Nancy M. (Peiffer), wife of Marvin F. Burkert, Jr., Perry Township, Sharon A. (Peiffer), wife of Robert A. Dalickas, Mertztown; son, Randy D. Peiffer, Lenhartsville; sisters, Dolores M. (Peiffer), wife of Dean Davis, Reading, Janice M. (Peiffer) Trumbauer, Topton; brother, Dennis C. Peiffer, Mesa, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Michael A. Dalickas, Christopher R. Burkert, Troy D. Burkert, Jennifer E. Dalickas, Anthony R. Dalickas, Andrew T. Dalickas, Paul D. Dalickas. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Jessica A. Dalickas.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with Reverend Alton R. Zentner officiating. Interment will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. DONALD L. HARTMAN
Donald L. Hartman, 69, of Centre Twp., died Friday January 24, 2014 in his residence. He was the husband of Janice A. (Wagner) Hartman. They were married June 13, 1944 and celebrated 49 years of marriage.
Born in West Reading he was the son of the late John L. and Ellen M. (Burkey) Hartman. He was a 1962 graduate of Schuylkill Valley High School. Donald worked as a welder at Dana Corporation for 30 years. Donald was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his granddaughters. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, watching the weather channel, wrestling, and football.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a daugther: Karla A. (Hartman) wife of Paul Painter, Parker, Colorado; two granddaughters: Kirsten, and Brooke; a brother: W. John Hartman husband of Peg Hartman, Upper Bern Twp.; four sisters: Gladys Swope, Rehrersburg, Norma Norton, Centre Twp., Helen Loeb, Hamburg, and Sarah Kline wife of Lee Kline, Virginville. Donald is also survived by his father-in-law: M. Homer Wagner, Muhlenberg Twp. Donald was predeceased by two sisters: Esther Krill and Mildred Krill.
Services will be held Thursday Jan. 30 at 2 p.m. from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc. 223 Peach Street Leesport. Burial will follow in St. John’s (Gernant’s) Cemetery, Ontelaunee Twp. EVELYN E. SHADE
Evelyn E. Shade, 82, formerly of Shartlesville, died Friday, January 24, 2014 in the Laurel Center, Tilden Twp. She was the wife of Merritt C. Shade, who died August 29, 2004.
Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Alma E. (Kline) Beissel. Evelyn worked as a sewing machine operator for twenty-eight years for Glo-Ray Knitting Mill, Robesonia until 1989. She then worked at the Laurel Center as a certified nursing assistant until 1992.
Evelyn is survived by two sons: Larry M. Shade, and his wife Dianna, Hamburg; and Dale A. Shade, and his wife Melody, Shoemakersville; three grandsons; and one great-granddaughter. She is also survived by two brothers: Leroy P. Kline, Fleetwood and James H. Beissel, Reading; and three sisters: Myrtle L. Brown, Birdsboro; Ruth E. Calhoun, Reading; and Dorothy J. Reazor, Reading. Evelyn was predeceased by three brothers: Arthur, John, and George Beissel; and a sister: Susan Cohen.
Services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in St. John’s (Gernant’s) Cemetery, Ontelaunee Twp. MILTON R. TURNER
Milton R. “Bill” Turner, 81, of Perry Twp., died Monday, January 20, 2014 in his residence. He was the husband of Joyce E. Turner. They were married on February 14, 1987 and would have celebrated 27 years of marriage.
Born in Shoemakersville, he was the son of the late Raymond F. and Mary R. (Daughtry) Turner. Milton (Bill) worked as a bar polisher for Carpenter Technology, retiring in 1994. He was a member of Mohrsville Church of the Brethren. Bill loved his ‘33 and ‘38 Ford Street Rods; and was a member of various car clubs.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Pierce M. Turner, and wife Mona, Topton; and Grant R. Turner, and wife Peggy, Hamburg; one daughter: Mary-Jo L. (Turner), wife of Michael Shaw, Mohnton; three step-children: Ginger Exley, and husband Chris, Massachusetts; Sager Moritzky, and wife Aysun, California; and Jordan Cronk, and husband David, Washington State; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Milton is also survived by one brother: Burlin A. Turner, and wife Ruth, Shoemakersville; and one sister: Gloria Z. (Turner), wife of Marshall Smith, Leesport. He was predeceased by one brother: Floyd N. Turner.
A Celebration of Milton’s Life will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 1 p.m. from Mohrsville Church of the Brethren, 1542 Shoey Road, Mohrsville, PA 19541. A visitation with the family will be held in the church from 12 noon to 1 p.m. on Feb. 18.
