Raymond C. Bailey, 77, of Albany Township, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014 in his residence.

Born in Greenwich Township, he was a son of the late William C. and Laila M. (Heinly) Bailey.

He was Lutheran in faith.

Mr. Bailey was a 1955 graduate of Kutztown Area High School. He was a career United States Air Force veteran serving in the Vietnam War, retiring as a Staff Sergeant after 23 years of service. He then was employed as a welder by the former David Seem, Inc., Kutztown. He also was employed as a manager at the Bandit Truck Stop, New Smithville.

Survivors: Son, Thomas O. Bailey, Kempton, with whom he resided; daughter, Linda M. (Bailey), wife of Leonard L. Green, Lehighton; sisters, Rose M. (Bailey), widow of Ronald Greth, Kutztown, Debra A. (Bailey), wife of Robert Becker, Walnutport; brothers, Sterling C., husband of Sandy Bailey, Lancaster, Dennis W., husband of Joanne Bailey and Randall A., husband of Donna Bailey, both of Kutztown; two grandchildren, Scott L. Green and Dawn C. Pollitt; He was predeceased by a sister, Evelyn M. Bailey; and a brother, Richard L. “Bull” Bailey.


Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. from Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with Reverend James R. Hammond officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by Ray A. Master Post 217, American Legion Honor Guard, Topton, and The United States Air Force, will follow in New Bethel Zion Cemetery, Kutztown (Grimville). Arlan R. Schroeder, 82, of Kutztown, passed away in the afternoon hours, Monday, March 3, 2014, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital.

He was the husband of Carole L. (Fabian) Schroeder, whom he married Nov. 24, 1956.

Born November 9, 1931, in Kempton, he was a son of the late Ira J. and Elda M. (Bond) Schroeder.

He graduated from Kutztown High School in 1949 and was employed by the former Christman Ice Cream Co., Hamburg, as a freezer operator for three years. In 1952, he was drafted into the Army and served in Korea, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Mr. Schroeder was employed by East Penn Mfg. Co., Lyon Station, for over 30 years, starting as a truck driver and retiring as Industrial Sales Co-coordinator in 1995.

He helped to organize the Kempton Community Center and was a volunteer worker for about 28 years. He was a member of the Kempton Rod &Gun Club, a lifetime member of the Kempton Fire Co., a member of the Kutztown Fire Co., the Albany Township Historical Society and a former member of the Kempton Lions Club.

He was co-chairman and a tireless worker for the 1974 Kempton Centennial Celebration.

Mr. Schroeder was a Lutheran and served on the church councils of both Jerusalem (Red) Church and Frieden’s Church in Stony Run, PA.

He was an avid genealogist and took great pleasure in helping other people in addition to family members, often times compiling a genealogy for them also.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Kimberly J. Ring, Allentown, Karen L. Fleisher, Kutztown, and Kenneth J.R. Schroeder, Haines City, FL; his brother: Dennis J.(Charlotte) Schroeder , Kutztown; 6 grandchildren & 7 nieces and nephews also survive.

He was predeceased by his son, Kyle F. Schroeder and by a brother, Luke I. Schroeder.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 11 AM, from Jerusalem (Red) Church, 15 Red Church Rd., Kempton, PA 19529, with Mr. Robert Billig, S.A.L.M. officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Friends may call Friday, March 7, 2014, from 7-9 PM, in the Edward J. Hildenbrand Funeral Home, Inc., 346 W. Main St., Kutztown, PA 19530 and Saturday, from 10 AM until time of service at the church.

Andrew B. Burkholder, 2½ months, of Maxatawny Township, died suddenly March 5, 2014 in his family home.

Born Dec. 17, 2013 in Maxatawny Township, he was a son of Amos H. and Florence R. (Brubaker) Burkholder.

Survivors: in addition to his patents, maternal grandparents, Walter M. and Vera B. (Reiff) Brubaker, Fleetwood; Maternal step great grandmother, Ada (Shirk) Reiff, Ephrata; maternal step great grandfather, Samuel Ringler, East Earl, Lancaster County. Sisters, Marilyn B., Grace B., Damaris B. and Victoria B. Burkholder; brothers, Peter B., James B., Matthew B. and David B. Burkholder, all at home. He was predeceased by a brother, John Edward Burkholder on April 29, 2012.

Funeral services from the residence, 630 Topton Road, Maxatawny Township on Monday, March 10, 2014, at 9 a.m. with services continuing at 9:30 a.m. in Center Mennonite Church. William S. Reppert, 85, of Spring Hill, Florida, formerly of Kutztown, died Thursday, March 6, 2014 in HPC Hospice Care Center, Brooksville, FL. He was the widower of Mary L. (Odenheimer) Reppert, who died August 11, 2001. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Howard J. and Katie V. (Ritter) Reppert.

Survivors: Sons; Steven W., husband of Janet Reppert, Broken Arrow, OK, Dale H., husband of LuAnne Reppert, Kutztown, Todd R., husband of Margaret Reppert, Houston, TX;. There are also five grandchildren, Taryn, Tristin, Tyler, Lauren, and Austin.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14, 2014 at 11 a.m. in Saint John’s United Church of Christ, 257 W. Walnut Street, Kutztown, with Reverend Sue Marie Baskette officiating. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown. Relatives and friends are invited to call Friday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church.
