SALLY S. MIKSIEWICZSally Sabilla (Breidegam) Miksiewicz, CEO and Vice Chairperson of East Penn Manufacturing, passed away on June 20, 2014. She died tragically at the age of 52, in an unexpected running accident.

Sally is survived and deeply missed by her children, Timothy R., Daniel D., Katelyn S., and Matthew J. Miksiewicz, all of Oley; her life partner, Victor M. Rodriguez, Jr. of Oley, her parents, DeLight E., Jr. and Helen S. (Merkel) Breidegam of Fleetwood and her brother, Daniel D. Breidegam, husband of Mary (Reilly), Oley and nephew, Mortimer Smedley husband of Sara (Brasted) and daughter, Kutztown; and niece Gemma Smedley and children, Oley.

Sally grew up with East Penn and spent her entire career at the company founded by her father and grandfather. One of the reasons she loved this company so much was that everyone there had become a part of her family. She worked for the company for over 30 years in many positions covering a wide range of responsibilities.

Throughout her years at the company, Sally was the driving force and passion that helped carry out the legacy of the generation that came before her. She led with integrity advancing the company’s position while caring deeply about her fellow workers, the customer, community, and environment.

She was a vital member of the community serving on the development committee for Lehigh Valley Health Network; the board of directors for Moravian College, Sageworth, and CUE Incorporated.

Sally received her B.A. degree in business management and sociology from Moravian College in 1984.

Sally’s passion for all that she did was so powerful that it will serve as a tremendous inspiration for many generations to come. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will move on powered by the very vision she instilled in all those around her.

A celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 27, at the Kutztown University O’Pake Field House. Doors will open at 8 a.m. Service will begin at 9 a.m. There will be no public viewing.

WAYNE A. MILLERWayne A. Miller, 88, of Fogelsville, formerly of District Township, died June 22, 2014, in Phoebe Nursing Home, Allentown.

He was the husband of the late Malvene F. (Bortz) Miller, who died in 1985.

Born in Rockland Township, he was a son of the late Albert and Florence (Kline) Miller.

He was a member of Huff’s Union Church, Lutheran Congregation, Alburtis.

Mr. Miller was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He also was a life member of the Breinigsville VFW #8282, Ray A. Master Post #217 American Legion, Topton, and was Supervisor for District Township for over 15 years from 1960 into the 70’s. He was a molder for Eastern Foundry, Boyertown for 45 years, retiring in 1987. Wayne was a Philadelphia Phillies fan, enjoyed trips to the casino’s and gardening.

Survivors: Daughters, Sandra F. Miller, companion of Larry C. Breininger, Fogelsville, Lisa F. (Miller) wife of Keith G. Muth, Orefield, and Tina M. (Miller) wife of Timothy C. Schmeltzle, Emmaus; companion, Helen Hermany, with whom he resided, brothers, Richard Miller, Emmaus, Harry and Russell Miller, both of Alburtis. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Kyle W. W. Muth, Shelby L. Schmeltzle, Colby J. Schmeltzle, Ryan K. Muth, Kelsey R. Schmeltzle, and Katelyn M. Muth; one step granddaughter, Karrie L. (Muth) Miller; and step great grandchildren, Hailey A. and Zachary J. Miller. He was pre-deceased by sisters, Dorothy (Miller) Ruppert, Edna (Miller) Weil, and Gladys (Miller) Mest and brothers Frederick, Paul, Robert and Allen Miller.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. from Ludwick Funeral Home, 25 E. Weis Street, Topton with Reverend Jane M. Kropa officiating. Interment will follow in Huff’s Church Union Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

ROBERT E. POGANYRobert E. Pogany, 57, of Topton, died Monday, June 23, 2014 in his residence. He was the husband of Teresa G. (Rochester) Pogany. Born in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Joseph and Blanche (Phillips) Pogany. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Topton. Mr. Pogany was a United States Marine Corps Veteran. He was employed as a transmission rebuilder by Todd’s Transmissions, Temple, for two years.

Survivors: Wife; children, Robyn G., Joseph P., Sonya P., Robert E., II, and Toni S. Pogany, all at home; Jennifer A. Pogany, Alaska, Nicole T. (Pogany) Moore, Huston, TX, Martha L. Colvat, Albion, TX; step children, Alexis J.M. Wutzke, Kari L. Wutzke, both of Henderson, TX, Jimmy C. Wutzke, Reading. He is also survived by sisters, Shirley, Florence and Michelle; a brother, Joseph; and 12 grandchildren.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

JEFFREY L. DRIESJeffrey L. Dries, 55, of Barto, died June 25, 2014 in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.

He was the husband of Cheryl A. (Bleiler) Dries. They were married June 21, 1980.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Robert H. and Mary M. (Waylen) Dries.

He was a member of the Reformed Congregation of Huff’s Union Church, Alburtis.

He was a 1976 graduate of Upper Perkiomen High School, Red Hill; and attended Lehigh Carbon Community College, taking several automotive courses.

Jeffrey was employed as a receiving technician by Fisher Clinical Services, Fogelsville for over four years, last working May 6th. Prior to that, he was employed by Bally Case and Cooler, Bally, for 18 years. Jeffrey was a member of the Upper Perkiomen Band Boosters, serving as President from 2010 to 2012. He enjoyed photography, music, working on cars, and spending time with his family.

Survivors: Wife; son, Kevin Robert, husband of Lisa M. (Holland) Dries, Emmaus; daughter, Jamie Nicole Dries, at home; sister, Virginia K. (Dries), wife of Bruce S. Devine, Green Lane, Montgomery County; and his four-legged companions, Radar and Thomas. He was predeceased by a daughter, Kaitlin N. Dries in 1992.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in Huff’s Union Church, 540 Conrad Road, Alburtis, with Reverend Jane M. Kropa officiating. Interment will follow in Huff’s Church Union Cemetery, Alburtis. Relatives and friends may call Monday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the church.

DEBORAH J. FLICKERDeborah Jean (Landis) Flicker, 63, of Topton, died June 25, 2014 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township surrounded by her loving family.

She was the wife of Robert P. Flicker. They were married April 11, 1970.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Eugene W. and Shirley L. (Barto) Landis.

Debbie was a member of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, Mertztown. Debbie was a 1968 graduate of Brandywine Heights Area High School, Topton and a 1970 graduate of Reading Hospital School of Nursing, West Reading. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at The Lutheran Home at Topton for over 30 years until her retirement in 2000.

Debbie was a loving and compassionate woman who loved life and her family. She enjoyed travelling and going to ‘the cabin’ and the beach, crossword puzzles, reading and truly loved shopping. She also enjoyed spending time with her husband, Bob and was the biggest fan at her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and friend.

Survivors: Husband; son, Brett R., husband of Kim M. (Doughtie) Flicker, Topton; daughters, Amanda B. Flicker, wife of Corey L. Moyer, Zionsville, Lehigh County and Nicole M. (Flicker), wife of Ralph Murczek, Blandon. Other survivors include a sister, Cheryl L. (Landis), wife of Michael W. Merkel, Franklin, TN and a brother, E. Michael, husband of Sally Jo (Adams) Landis, Easton. There are also four grandchildren, Ben B. and Alex M. Flicker and Owen P. and Bryson L. Moyer.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. from Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, 50 Luther Drive, Mertztown with Reverend Jeremiah A. Sassaman officiating. Interment will follow in Topton Union Cemetery, Topton. Relatives and friends may call Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. in the church.
