The library is getting a makeover….for summer, that is. This year’s Summer Reading Program is science-themed, entitled ‘Fizz, Boom, Read’ for kids, ‘Spark a Reaction’ for teens and ‘Literary Elements’ for adults.

Every year we plan and plan and plan for Summer Reading. We’re excited to bring lots of cool events to you this summer, and we are even making some changes in-house to keep the science theme going. Thanks to the genius of our children’s librarian, Laura Kauffman, we’re working on building giant robots, and big trash can displays of pretend ‘radioactive waste.’ You may also see some slime running down our walls soon. All pretend, of course.

Thanks also to a good friend and college roommate (and her sister), Sarah Focht Gibney and Celeste Focht, our library windows are getting a makeover, too. You’ll notice if you stop by that almost all of our windows (including the really big ones) are painted with science themes – but also book themes, too. Sarah and Celeste are awesome artists and their work is on display right here at the library all summer.

The Summer Reading Program starts June 10 at the Exeter Community Library, and June 9 county-wide. Come check out all the programs we have to offer (a few listed below) and fill in your reading tickets beginning June 10 for your chance at some awesome prizes! Adults are eligible, too!
