You’ll never guess where I am right now. I’m cruising along in the atmosphere at approximately thirty two thousand feet above the earth’s surface. Yes, I’m returning home from an adventure with my family and as I sit here in my seat on the plane, I am considering a number of things that may in fact make the experience of flying just a bit more pleasant. With your permission I would like to share these thoughts with you here.

First of all, I highly recommend investing in one of those horseshoe shaped neck pillows. These come in many varieties, often with tiny little microbeads that gently shift around and conform to your head or neck as you change positions. Especially if you have a lengthy flight and plan on trying to sleep, this helpful item can be a lifesaver. I know because I traveled without one on the five hour non-stop flight to Las Vegas and I sorely regretted my lack of one of these nifty items.

Another useful goodie that you may forget to bring along with you when you fly is a set of ear plugs. Let’s face it, we have all been trapped on a plane at least once with a fussy baby or cantankerous toddler and there are few things in life that can get on your last nerve as fast as being trapped with an inconsolable screaming child. While ear plugs will not block out every shriek, they may provide just enough buffer to keep you from losing your mind. And it’s not just crying babies that can assault your ears on a plane. What about the guy two rows over who can’t chew with his mouth closed, or the lady who talks way too loud about way too many personal issues? Yes, ear plugs need to be on your next packing list for sure.

Here’s one you may never have thought about but I am convinced that it is a prize winner. Don’t forget the GasX. Why am I suggesting this curious item be included in your travel plans? Let’s just say that it is out of courtesy and consideration for those around you morseo than your own comfort that I am including this suggestion. Suffice it to say that after being on a four and a half hour flight with some individual who desperately needed a little GasX, I am now a firm believer in the benefits of using this product prior to boarding the plane. For a relatively small investment, your foresight could potentially spare a plane full of strangers some very difficult moments battling air pollution. Trust me. I know. Enough said.

I don’t know if you plan on traveling by plane any time soon, but if you do, consider using these helpful tips to make your journey a little more enjoyable. I know my next flight will incorporate all three of these things and I hope that adding them to my carry on will also add a bit of value to my trip experience. On another note, it’s good to be home!
