The results were announced Aug. 31 at the conclusion of a special two-hour finale, during which both finalists performed.

"My main focus is stage direction and choreography, although I also act and dance," said the 23-year-old and 2010 graduate through Lighthouse Christian Academy.

<![CDATA[Morgantown flying clubs tour Lancaster Airport Tower]]> Members of the Tri-County Flyers and the Morgantown Aero Club, and other local Morgantown Airport pilots and family members recently attended a tour of the Lancaster Airport control tower.

The purpose of the tour was for student pilots, newly minted pilots, and experienced pilots to get a glimpse of what goes on from the other side of the microphone when talking to ATC (air traffic control) from their airplanes.

She won the position during her senior year at the University of Michigan in 2006, becoming the first female tuba player in a major symphony orchestra.

<![CDATA[Two-day bike ride takes cyclists to three national parks near Schuylkill River Trail]]> Did you know that there are three national park sites located near the Schuylkill River Trail?

On Sept. 20 and 21, participants in the Schuylkill River Heritage Area's Pedaling through Our National Parks Ride will visit those sites by bike. The third ride in the Heritage Area's Schuylkill River Bike Tour Series, it will feature about 30 miles of cycling per day, with visits to Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site, Valley Forge National Historical Park and Independence National Historical Park.

<![CDATA[Kutztown University alum awarded for 'Buy American' painting inspired by old Saucony Shoe Factory, Kutztown]]> Kutztown University alumnus Douglas Wiltraut won an award for his painting, "Buy American", inspired by the now closed Saucony Shoe Factory in Kutztown.

The John J. Newman Medal is awarded to one artist each year and was presented to Wiltraut in June 2014 at the 60th Annual Exhibition of the National Society of Painters in Casein and Acrylic.
