Ludwig should be completed by late October or early November, Superintendent Steven Keifer told school directors on Sept. 22.

"Students and teachers are enjoying the new school," Keifer said.

Some of the areas still being worked on include: installation of a wooden floor in the gymnasium, flooring on the stage in the auditorium, roofing work and landscaping, according to Keifer.

<![CDATA[Henne and Browder crowned Hamburg Area High School Homecoming King and Queen]]> Hamburg varsity football earned their first, and possibly most important, win of the season so far on Friday, Sept. 26. The homecoming game was a success: the Hawks won against the Kutztown Cougars with a final score of 34-6. Junior Nick Kuhn ran the ball to score once and threw two touchdown passes to juniors Jared Lesher and Aaron Nelson.

<![CDATA[Boyertown mayor takes on ALS Challenge with Walnut Woods' staff, residents]]> With the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge sweeping across communities as summertime concludes, one local group decided to take on the challenge while inviting others to do so if they wished. Staff at Walnut Woods Independent Senior Living Community organized the event, inviting residents to participate.

According the Jessica Gumbert, enrichment coordinator for Walnut Woods, the ice was replaced with confetti for some of the residents.

<![CDATA[Major construction work at 562 and Shelbourne Rd. begins Sept. 29]]> The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced today a project will begin Monday (Sept. 29) to improve the intersection of PA 562 with Shelbourne and Oley Turnpike roads in Exeter Township, Berks County.

The intersection project involves roadway reconstruction, new traffic signals, new left turn lanes from all directions, drainage improvements, new curb ramps, new signs and line paint.
