Organizer Mark Ratcliff stated that he was "happy with the participation" from both local vendors and the public to represent interest in natural ways of living.

<![CDATA[Butterflies fly into Kutztown Library]]> The Butterfly Guy brought his butterfly friends to Kutztown, much to the joy of local youth.

Children and parents packed into Kutztown Community Library for butterfly expert Rick Mikula's presentation July 24.

Excitement was high and many found keeping quiet a challenge.

Grace Flyte, 6, Kutztown, brought her own chrysalis to the program and even had her nose tickled by a butterfly.

<![CDATA[PA Strikers 10U wins 2014 PONY National Championship]]> Congratulation to the 10U PA Striker Fastpitch Softball team who, just a few weeks after winning the 2014 10U PA PONY State Championship in Philadelphia, went undefeated (8-0) in Sterling, VA the week of July 18-23 to win the 2014 PONY 10U National tournament!

The Strikers relied on team effort and talented balance of strong defense, incredible pitching and big bats to beat the Vienna Stars (VA), Xtreme Fastpitch (PA), NJ Pride (NJ), Orange Crush (DE), VA Crushers (VA), Ashburn Shooting Stars (VA) and the Banshees (PA) - who they also played in the championship game and won by a score of 3-0.

The Kutztown program fielded three very solid teams with the Phillies, Dodgers and Tigers, finishing in that order against rival teams from Fleetwood, Muhlenberg, Brandywine and Oley Valley, totaling 10 teams representing the league.

<![CDATA[Boyertown boy, Easton Albert, named a Baseball Youth Magazine All-American]]> Eight-year-old Easton Albert, who will be entering the third grade at Earl Elementary School in the Boyertown Area School District, was recently nominated, then named, to a Baseball Youth Magazine All-American 9U.

Easton plays travel baseball on the Baseball U 10U team based in Scranton. He received the honor after a very successful week at the Cooperstown, New York, Youth Baseball Tournament.

The Kutztown Borough Council and Planning Commission met for a joint meeting on Wednesday, July 23 to continue talks of downtown redevelopment focused around the Silk Mill District. Although the meeting was a workshop designed solely for discussion purposes, it highlighted a few key concerns that will need to be addressed before a decision can be reached.
