Both the Elementary and Middle School Kutztown Jazz Bands performed. All proceeds benefit KASMA, the Kutztown Area Schools Music Association.

<![CDATA[10th Annual Art Students' Exhibition and Competition to be held at MCCC, Pottstown]]> Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) will be highlighting the talent of its art students at its Tenth Annual Art Students' Exhibition and Competition, which opens Wednesday, April 1, and continues through Friday, April 24, at the Fine Arts Gallery, North Hall, 16 High Street, Pottstown.

Approximately 50 students will be displaying their artwork in a variety of media, including drawings, paintings, three-dimensional pieces and mixed media.

<![CDATA[Shed fire on Wednesday spread to adjacent Birdsboro homes]]> Firefighters responded to a fully-involved fire in a large shed at 119 Furnace St. in Birdsboro Wednesday afternoon, March 25.

The fire spread to two adjoining structures, a house and an office in the front of the building before it was extinguished, according to Birdsboro Fire Marshall Ken Templin.

<![CDATA[Daughter of Daniel Boone grad to be featured on PBS special about cancer]]> The daughter of a 1999 Daniel Boone graduate will be featured on a PBS special airing next week.

"Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies," a Ken Burns production, will be aired on Monday, March 30, Tuesday, March 31, and Wednesday, April 1 beginning at 9 p.m.

The film is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book, The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer by Siddhartha Mukherjee.

"Although the Drug Enforcement Administration is no longer coordinating special collection days, we wish to continue to offer the same disposal opportunity that the DEA had organized in the past," said Colleen Musselman, director of life enrichment at Garden Spot Village.

<![CDATA[Daniel Boone Optimist Club's 13th Annual Easter Egg Hunt draws a crowd; 7,000 eggs hunted]]> The Daniel Boone Optimist Club held their 13th annual Easter egg hunt on Sunday, March 22, at Amity Community Park.

Jay Merz, Daniel Boone Optimist Club Treasurer and chair of this year's egg hunt, said volunteers filled 7,000 eggs with candy, dollar coins, and prize tickets. The eggs were placed in the snowy field early in the day.
