The tour took the groups to the state-of-the-art greenhouses, headhouse and propagation centers for world-renowned Longwood Gardens, Kennett Twp.

Upcoming tours for club members are Chanticleer Pleasure Garden, Wayne and visits to local plant nurseries for expert gardening tips.

Aug. 16 was a "Day for Honey Bees" at the Wildlands Conservancy, 3701 Orchid Place, Emmaus, sponsored by the Lehigh Valley Beekeepers Association.

<![CDATA[Union wants a turn lane for River Bridge Road]]> The Union Township Board of Supervisors unanimously approved on Aug. 19 for Board Chairman Donald E. Basile to meet with Penn DOT officials on Sept. 10 or 11 regarding the installation of a left turn lane from Route 724 eastbound onto northbound River Bridge Road.

Basile said at the board's July 21 meeting that two homeowners along Route 724 have agreed to allow use of their property for installation of the turn lane.

<![CDATA[Amity to study road improvement costs]]> The Amity Township Board of Supervisors unanimously approved to accept the Roadway Sufficiency Analysis report prepared by Bogia Engineering, Inc., Wyomissing, during the Aug. 21 meeting. Supervisor Richard L. Gokey was absent from the meeting.

Acceptance of the report's findings regarding current and future projected conditions of the township's roads, will allow the Planning Commission to move forward with calculating the necessary capital improvement costs.
