Hamburg Area administrators introduced school directors to the district's STEM initiatives for the 2014-15 school year on Aug. 11, .

STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

By focusing on these subjects, students will be better prepared to succeed as part of the workforce of the future, according to high school Principal Chris Spohn.

Preventing drunk driving tragedies by promoting the use of 'safe and sober designated drivers' is the mission of the HERO Campaign, and the new Pennsylvania initiative will distribute 100,000 decals to be displayed on car windows by motorists throughout the Keystone State.

<![CDATA[Kutztown 9-year-old girl donates hair to Children With Hair Loss]]> Maisy Kellum of Kutztown recently donated 9 inches of her hair to Children With Hair Loss.

Children With Hair Loss is a non-profit organization that provides free hair replacements for children, up to age 21, who have medically-related hair loss.

Maisy states that being able to donate her hair was a goal of hers, and she is glad she has accomplished it, and was excited she can help another child in the process.
