She currently resides at Stone Ridge Towne Centre in Myerstown. She formerly resided in Shartlesville for more than 50 years.

To celebrate Freda's birthday, granddaughter Cathy Trump provided a dinner of honey dipped chicken from Blue Mountain Family Restaurant.

<![CDATA[RACC and KU officials announce reverse transfer agreement]]> Reading Area Community College (RACC) and Kutztown University (KU) announced, on Sept. 15, a reverse transfer agreement that will permit eligible students, who transfer from RACC to KU before earning an associate degree from RACC, the opportunity to transfer KU credits back to RACC to apply towards completion of the RACC associate degree concurrent with their enrollment at KU.

<![CDATA[Hawks for peace: Hamburg seventh graders celebrate Peace Day]]> Seventh graders at Hamburg Area Middle School spent Friday, Sept. 19, working on teamwork, learning about peaceful resolutions and how they can help make the world a better place as they celebrated Peace Day a few days early.

"It's unfortunate that it couldn't be on the day itself," said Andrew Hoffman, Hamburg Area Middle School seventh grader teacher who organized Hamburg's part.

<![CDATA[Jessica Davis engaged to Derek Ink]]> Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Davis of Mohnton, are pleased to announcement the engagement of their daughter, Jessica Davis to Mr. Derek Ink of Narvon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Ink of Narvon.

Jessica is a 2012 graduate of Garden Spot High School. She is finishing up her veterinary technology degree from Harcum College with internships at The University of Penn and New Bolton Center.

<![CDATA[Adventure on the river: Terre Hill Boy Scouts canoe and kayak on Susquehanna River]]> Terre Hill Boy Scouts Troop 172 recently took a canoe and kayak trip on the West Branch of the Susquehanna River over Labor Day weekend.

They started at Shawville, Pa and paddled 30 miles to Karthaus, Pa. They spent two nights camping along the river at primitive campsites.

Scouts participating are Jonathan Searle, Todd Trupe Jr.

<![CDATA[Fleetwood Community Library Children's yoga offers 'great benefits']]> Fleetwood >> After a year and a half long hiatus, Miss Alicia returned to Fleetwood Area Public Library on Sept. 17 to kick off "Yoga for Kids Ages 5-12."

Around 6:30 p.m., kids piled in, kicking off their shoes and setting down their towels and mats. As the class began, the kids were enthused by songs, stretches, dances and Miss Alicia's silly jokes.

Corbett serves ice cream treats in Kenhorst]]> The cool September air crackled with anticipated outside of the Kenhorst Dairy Queen on Tuesday night Sept. 16, where Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett hosted a meet and greet as part of his 2014 campaign for reelection against Tom Wolf, the state's Democratic candidate.

Corbett's presence attracted admirers and protesters alike, and his audience included a set of four-legged friends, a pair of pageant girls, and a diverse age group ranging from children to the elderly, creating a true community atmosphere.

During the Tuesday, Sept. 16 Exeter Township School Board voting meeting, the board updated their tobacco use policy to include electronic cigarettes and tobacco-related devices. The district wide tobacco use policy was last updated on April 14, 2011.

<![CDATA[Exeter board allows parental option for Chromebook insurance]]> The Exeter Township School Board voted against the purchase of approximately over 1,000 Chromebooks at a price ranging between $375,000 and $405,000 during their Tuesday, Sept. 16 meeting. The requested purchase would result in providing Chromebooks for students in grades 10 through 12. The vote was eight to one against the purchase of the computers, and would have expanded an already existing program the district is currently using for the ninth graders this school year.
