Each year, 1,500 craftsmen, artisans, interpreters, mechanical technology folks, food service workers and parking aids (all volunteers) bring the Joanna Furnace community to life through the years 1791 to 1950.

The grant program is extremely competitive. Of the 212 grants awarded nationally, CCHS was one of only 10 to receive funding in the Museums, Libraries, and Cultural Organizations Planning and Implementation category.

<![CDATA[PA State Police investigating two assault incidents]]> The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an assault that occurred in East Nantmeal Township on Aug. 27 at 8:38 a.m.

The victim, a 44-year-old female, reported the assault by the accused, a 46-year-old man from Elverson. The names of the victim and accused have not been released.

The incident occurred on Bulltown Road.

The Veterans Mental Health Council will provide input to VA leadership regarding local mental health structures and operations, and will outreach to Veterans to create more awareness of VA mental health programs.

<![CDATA[Six-year-old boy passes away after being pinned between two horse-drawn carts]]> A six-year-old boy has passed away after an accident involving two horse-drawn hay carts in Honey Brook Township.

State Police at Embreeville responded to the incident, which occurred on Aug. 26 on North Birdell Road at 9:15 a.m.

Troopers responded to assist EMS. The boy was positioned between the two moving carts and became pinned as the carts passed each other.
