Michael Jesberger presented a Revolutionary War program, "Citizen to Soldier," including a live muzzle-loading demonstration, for a crowd of about 50 who gathered around him at the Hamburg Park off Island Street. The July 15 program was arranged by the Hamburg Public Library.

Jesberger noted the modern facilities, including the swimming pool and an on-going baseball game, before gesturing to the Schuylkill River behind him.

Runners and walkers were out at the Hamburg Area High School football stadium early Sunday morning, July 20, for the sixth annual Run for Taylor in memory of Taylor Nicole Seitzinger.

Family, friends, those that knew her and even those that only know her through her memory came out to not only honor the late student, but to also help raise money for the Taylor N.

Port Clinton Park was filled with veterans, family members, supporters, music, food, activities and more on Saturday, July 19, for the River House PA fundraiser.

"We've been friends for 30 years and then one day we were sort of brainstorming and we thought 'why not,'" said Elizabeth Schaeffer, co-founder of River House PA, on her friend Cindy Ross, also the co-founder of River House PA.

<![CDATA[Boyertown Lady Ballers win the Stellar Basketball Tournament]]> The Boyertown Lady Ballers, a high School varsity summer basketball team, played in the annual Stellar Basketball Tournament held at Cedar Beach Park in Allentown.

Starting with a victory on July 11, the girls continued play on July 12 with a win against Salisbury first, then suffering a loss in their second game to Southern Lehigh, placing them in the losers bracket the next day.

<![CDATA[Power outage affects 15,000 in tri-county area]]>

UNION TWP - Approximately 15,000 Met-Ed customers across the tri-county area lost power late Sunday morning.

"There was a major distrubance in the transmission system," said Karen Baxter, a spokeswoman for Met-Ed. "It took out about 15,000 customers around 11 a.m."

Baxter said crews were being sent out to investigate exactly what caused the outage.
