Though often working cooperatively with the School District, WCB is a community-based organization whose mission is "to facilitate wellness education and programming in order to motivate the community to adopt healthy lifestyles.

<![CDATA[Boyertown Bear Paws eliminated from state regional tournament]]> The Boyertown Bear-Paws completed a successful season last week when they were eliminated from the state regional tournament. The Bear-Paws were 3-2 in the tournament and finished the season with an overall record of 30-6.

The Bear Paws won the first game of the tournament on July 22, 6-0 over Lehigh.

<![CDATA[1 pulled from burning truck after four-car crash near Kutztown]]> RICHMOND TWP. - A Mohnton man was pulled from his burning pickup truck by a passing motorist after a four-car crash on Route 222 around 1:30 p.m. Monday, police said.

According to a press release from Fleetwood Borough Police, the accident occurred as southbound traffic was slowing due to congestion Their six original murals include the ones they've created for the Minerva D. Braemer Medical Arts Building at Einstein Medical Center Montgomery, Norriton Fire Engine Company 61 and Meadowood Senior Living community.

Now, with the colorful acrylics on the latter barely dry, Plymouth Meeting's Susannah Hart Thomer and Trooper's Michael Adams are already gearing up for collaboration number seven - a mural for one of the outdoor buttresses at Collegeville's historic Power House.

Do you carry an old pocket watch or have an old wristwatch? If you do, then I'm sure you recognize the above sounds. There's nothing like an old clock! Sometimes the sound of an old clock can be soothing, but other times, they tend to keep us awake at night, especially if they chime every 15 minutes!

When you are out picking, how do you know whether a clock is good or not? First of all, is it running? If not, ask the proprietor if the clock will run.

Those who competed were Annika Gally (Kutztown), Julianna Glassner (Boyertown), Madelyn Green (Boyertown), Carlie Owens (Daniel Boone), Andrew Armbruster (Brandywine Heights), Ivan Escott (Boyertown), Ridge Hager (Quakertown), Justin Morris (Boyertown), Jacob Santos (Daniel Boone) and Griffin Schlegel (Twin Valley).

POTTSTOWN - First-timers and experienced outdoorsmen alike took advantage of a unique event offered by the Schuylkill River Heritage Area last week.

The Pedal Paddle takes riders north along the Schuylkill River Trail to Morlatton Village in Douglassville before returning by boat to Riverfront Park in Pottstown.

The Blue Devils, a drum and bugle corps part of Drum Corps International, will be bringing their talent to Hamburg as they rehearse at Hamburg Area High School stadium starting July 30.

Not only will music students and the community have the chance to see the 15-time World Champion marching unit rehearse, but they will also be treated to full run-throughs 30 minutes prior to the end of each rehearsal.

Sunny skies and heat accompanied attendees as they strolled the grounds - with humidity that made many attendees all the more appreciative of those wearing the layered and hot authentic 19th century costumes for the sake of history.

<![CDATA[Survival fire staring program teaches kids how to start a fire in a survival situation]]>

The Schuylkill Valley Community Library hosted an evening of survival fire starting for kids presented by the Lancaster County Department of Parks and Recreation on Wednesday, July 23.

Andy Yoder, local naturalist with a degree in wildlife and fishing from Penn State University welcomed local kids under the pavilion behind the library to view several techniques on lighting fires in a survival situation.
