This intergenerational event bridges the gap between the senior citizens from The Center with the National Honor Society seniors from the Boyertown Area Senior High.

According to police the robbery occurred around 10:35 p.m. outside the bank located at 63 Old Swede Road (Route 662), near the intersection with Route 422.

<![CDATA[Exeter teen bake sale on track to reach $12,000 by 6th year for Animal Rescue League]]> After six years of fundraising, Exeter teen Kyra Hoerr hopes this year to reach $12,000 raised for the Animal Rescue League.

At the age of eleven, Kyra held her first bake sale at Exeter May Days, a carnival put on by Exeter Township Parks and Recreation. Her sale is a two-day marathon of baking and selling, starting Friday morning with tent set-up and frenzied baking.

<![CDATA[Washington Township places recycling bins in public spaces]]> Washington Township, Berks County, has received 21 recycling bins designed specifically for placement at public spaces throughout the community as part of a national recycling bin grant program made possible by Keep America Beautiful (KAB) and The Coca-Cola Foundation.

The Township received 60 gallon "Keep America Beautiful" recycling bins for the collection of drinking bottles.

<![CDATA[Fleetwood Middle School principal taped to wall; Fifth graders rewarded for collecting the most for food bank donation]]> Fleetwood Middle School's fifth grade students taped their principal, Gangi Cucciuffo, to the wall with red duct tape on Friday, May 1.

It didn't take long for approximately 216 fifth grade students to fasten their principal to the wall of the gym. A large fan was brought in to try and cool him down as teams of two placed their tape strips over Cucciuffo.

They planned, planted and decorated throughout the year for the different holidays and seasons. The Bronze Award is the highest award that can be earned as a Junior Girl Scout.

Upon closer inspection, they realized it was a flying elephant, more accurately, a hot air balloon in the shape of an elephant.

<![CDATA[Hamburg mom a role model for her own children as well as others]]> As a school counselor and mother, Marybeth Mell has had ample opportunities to be a role model for not only her own children, but hundreds of other children in her position as a school counselor at the Hamburg Area Middle School during the last 11 years.

Mell's children, Alex, HAHS graduate in 2009, and Austin, HAHS graduate in 2010, were the recipients of this encouragement at home.
