<![CDATA[Coast Guard cadets killed in car wreck, Oley man injured]]> Hopewell Twp. NJ >> An Oley man was injured in a Spring Break crash that killed two U.S. Coast Guard Academy cadets, according to officials.

New Jersey authorities told the Associated Press two passengers in a car driven by 21-year-old Joel MacArthur, of Oley, Pa, were killed when it collided with an oncoming car on Route 31 in Hopewell Township early Saturday.

<![CDATA[Perry Elementary Center fifth graders hold annual Max Museum]]> Perry Elementary Center fifth grade students held their annual Wax Museum on Friday, Feb. 27.

Students had to read a biography book and write a report about their chosen person. The report had to contain an explanation of three character traits about their topic including text evidence from the book.

<![CDATA[Greater Berks chapter of the National Federation of the Blind is about peers helping peers]]> "Everybody has something to bring to the table of life," said Roy McCutcheon, who recently moved to Hamburg and has been blind his whole life. McCutcheon is part of the new Greater Berks Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of Pennsylvania.

"The National Federation of the Blind is 75 years old this year," said Karen Chandler, secretary of the Berks chapter and Windsor Twp.

<![CDATA[Eric Armusik's painting displayed on billboards in Berks and Schuylkill counties]]> Those driving around Berks and Schuylkill counties may see a familiar sight on some of the billboards. Hamburg artist Eric Armusik won the People's Choice Award for this year's Fast Lane Art competition.

Armusik's "Man with Guitar" is featured on eight billboards throughout the two counties and is estimated to reach more than 250,000 people.

<![CDATA[Indian Fort Inn holds first Bridal Expo]]> Despite the snow falling in Hamburg, the atmosphere in the Indian Fort Inn was welcoming for their Bridal Expo on Sunday, March 1, which included a free buffet for brides. Sandra Bixler, the event coordinator from the Inn, stated that the expo was created to bring together local businesses. She also described how The Indian Fort Inn provides venues for non-traditional weddings, receptions, and rehearsal dinners.

They read a book by Jean Fritz called "George Washington's Breakfast," in which a young boy named George Washington Allen seeks to learn everything he can about the Father of Our Country.

<![CDATA[Penn-Bernville Elementary School holds annual book fair]]> The Penn-Bernville Organization (PTO) held its annual book fair from Feb. 25 through Feb. 27. Students shopped for books during their scheduled library times. Two family nights were held for parents to view the fair and buy any additional books for their children.

A new feature to this year's fair was a program entitled, "All For Books.
