In the girls Class AAA 4x800, Twin Valley placed 10th in the Heat 1 preliminaries May 22 with a time of 9:43.

<![CDATA[Boyertown's Dylan Eddingher takes home a bronze at PIAA Track & Field Championships]]> It was a weekend to remember for Boyertown senior Dylan Eddingher at the PIAA Track & Field Championships at Shippensburg University's Seth Grove Stadium May 22 and 23. Eddinger came home with a third-place bronze medal in the Class AAA 800-meter run withd a time of 1:51.19 in the finals.

Eddinger had run the top time in the trials of the 800 Friday with a 1:54.

<![CDATA[Kutztown High School Class of 2017 hosts first Running of the Cougars 5K Race and Fun Walk]]> On Saturday, May 16, the Kutztown Area High School Class of 2017 hosted the first annual "Running of the Cougars" 5K Race and Fun Walk.

Runners ran a course that circled the property of the school district that included a combination of challenges including hills, grass, gravel, and asphalt sections.

So when she went shopping for a college to attend next fall, she wanted a college where running was important. In the end, that college was Edinboro University. She recently signed her letter-of-intent to run cross country and track for the Fighting Scots.

<![CDATA[BASEBALL: Governor Mifflin defeats Daniel Boone for Berks League championship]]> When the Berks County League baseball season began, the Governor Mifflin Mustangs were the odds on favorites to win the championship. With that kind of pressure on their backs, the Mustangs only went 7-3 in the regular season and finished in second place behind Exeter in Division 1. But they got hot when it mattered, winning all three playoff games, including a 3-1 victory over Daniel Boone in the championship game on May 13 at First Energy Stadium in Reading, to capture the program's first league title since 2011.

The 2015 Twin Valley Middle School girls Track and Field team went undefeated 7-0 and also won the Oley Al Knabb Relays, The Wilson girls only County Championship and the overall Governor Mifflin County meet. This team has gone 13-1 in the last two years under the leadership of Coach Greg Linsky who is the only coach for all 54 middle school girls for both track and field events, a physical education teacher at Honey Brook Elementary Center and a father of two young children.

<![CDATA[Kreitz finishes with a flurry at Kutztown U.]]> It turned out to be a very good way for Boyertown grad Travis Kreitz to end his college baseball career. He hit .302 in his senior season at Kutztown University this spring, led the team in home runs with eight, and was tied for second on the team n doubles with eight. He was third on the team with 17 RBIs and scored 13 runs in 38 games played.

Spring-Ford proved it on May 11, as the Rams erased two regular-season losses to Boyertown by topping the Bears 9-4 in the Pioneer Athletic Conference semifinals at Ram Stadium.

"In this league, just because you're in fourth place, it doesn't exactly mean you're a fourth-place team," said Spring-Ford head coach Bruce Brobst.

Ashley Birmingham broke the school record for age group 11 & 12 girls for the 50 yard Butterfly, which was set in 1988, with a time of 29.96, Ashley swam the 50 yard Butterfly with a time of 29.85 for the new school record.

<![CDATA[Jared Lawler of Twin Valley among 20 youth awarded Good Citizenship Award]]> Two Chester County students were recently named recipients of Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer's Union League Good Citizenship Award.

Christopher DeHaven of Bayard Rustin High School and Jared Lawler of Twin Valley were among 20 award winners. They were honored as part of Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer's Annual Awards Banquet on March 7 at the Holiday Inn Conference Center-Lehigh Valley.
