Winning was in her DNA. It had become embedded during her outstanding three-sport career in the mid-1960s at Boyertown Area High School.

"I did not know how to lose," the retired Boyertown teacher and coaching legend said, reflecting over breakfast recently at her frequent hangout, The Jukebox Café.

<![CDATA[Boyertown Optimist Lacrosse Teams program holds 20th annual 'Lax Fest']]> The Boyertown Optimist Lacrosse Teams (BOLT) celebrated its 20th Annual End of Season "Lax Fest" Tournament on Saturday, June 6, at Boyertown Junior High West.

BOLT hosted thirty two teams from all over the area. Players, coaches and fans came in from Scranton, Oxford, Springfield, and other areas.

<![CDATA[Legion Baseball: Bears to play annual Alumni game]]> The Boyertown Legion Bears will be holding their annual alumni game this upcoming weekend (i.e., Saturday, June 13). It will be the fourth time that the Bears have held this event, as it was also held in 2006, 2010, and 2014.

The event will be on a much smaller scale than past events due to the extended but necessary construction taking place near the Stadium.

<![CDATA[TRACK AND FIELD: Boyertown's Dylan Eddinger sets back-to-back records]]> When the Boyertown High track season began, Dylan Eddinger noticed all of the school track records posted on the locker room wall. Immediately he set his sights on the 800 meter run record set over 20 years ago by Kevin Heacock. The time of 1:54 was one Dylan knew was within his reach, so that was his goal.

<![CDATA[Local athletes take part in state track & field meet]]> SHIPPENSBURG >> Garden Spot High School junior Javon McIntyre finished sixth in the boys Class AAA 400-meter dash with a time of 49.90 seconds during the PIAA Track & Field Championships at Seth Grove Stadium on the campus of Shippensburg University on May 22-23.

In the girls Class AAA 4x800, Twin Valley placed 10th in the Heat 1 preliminaries May 22 with a time of 9:43.

<![CDATA[Boyertown's Dylan Eddingher takes home a bronze at PIAA Track & Field Championships]]> It was a weekend to remember for Boyertown senior Dylan Eddingher at the PIAA Track & Field Championships at Shippensburg University's Seth Grove Stadium May 22 and 23. Eddinger came home with a third-place bronze medal in the Class AAA 800-meter run withd a time of 1:51.19 in the finals.

Eddinger had run the top time in the trials of the 800 Friday with a 1:54.

<![CDATA[Kutztown High School Class of 2017 hosts first Running of the Cougars 5K Race and Fun Walk]]> On Saturday, May 16, the Kutztown Area High School Class of 2017 hosted the first annual "Running of the Cougars" 5K Race and Fun Walk.

Runners ran a course that circled the property of the school district that included a combination of challenges including hills, grass, gravel, and asphalt sections.

She recently signed her letter-of-intent to run cross country and track for the Fighting Scots.
