Ashley Birmingham broke the school record for age group 11 & 12 girls for the 50 yard Butterfly, which was set in 1988, with a time of 29.96, Ashley swam the 50 yard Butterfly with a time of 29.85 for the new school record.

<![CDATA[Jared Lawler of Twin Valley among 20 youth awarded Good Citizenship Award]]> Two Chester County students were recently named recipients of Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer's Union League Good Citizenship Award.

Christopher DeHaven of Bayard Rustin High School and Jared Lawler of Twin Valley were among 20 award winners. They were honored as part of Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer's Annual Awards Banquet on March 7 at the Holiday Inn Conference Center-Lehigh Valley.

<![CDATA[Schuylkill Valley youth wrestler competes at State Championship]]> Kyle Vernon, of Mohrsville, recently returned from the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State Championship tournament in Erie, where he placed 17th out of approximately 1,500 wrestlers. This was the first time in more than 10 years that a youth wrestler from Schuylkill Valley has made it to the state championship.

The past two years, Centershot has been held at the Action Impact complex, which is located just off of Hopewell Road in Elverson a couple of miles outside of French Creek State Park. Three years ago, Bob and Dottie Gerhart were introduced to Centershot when viewing the hunting channel.

<![CDATA[Eagles legend Chuck Bednarik has died at 89]]> Chuck Bednarik, considered the greatest Eagles player ever, died this morning.

He was 89.

The last of the NFL's true two-way players, Bednarik led the Eagles to NFL championships in 1949 and 1960. He played a franchise-record 14 seasons from 1949-1962 culminating in a berth at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Each player received a basketball from the Hamburg Area Girls Basketball Association. The team competed in the Madison Division of the Penn-Del YMCA Swim League. Tri-Valley girls finished the dual-meet season UNDEFEATED in league competition and won the Madison Division title for the third straight season! Tri-Valley boys also finished the dual-meet season with a winning record of 3-2-1.

<![CDATA[Perfect season earns Kutztown University wrestler Ziad Haddad Division II's Most Dominant Wrestler Award]]> Ziad Haddad closed his national championship season with a 30-0 record on Saturday evening, when he was honored as Division II's Most Dominant Wrestler.

Out of Haddad's 30 victories this season, 21 were against opponents from Division II programs. He finished with 10 pins, four major decisions, and seven decisions for an average of 4.

<![CDATA[Pottstown Roller Derby Rockstars coach sees potential in league]]> Potential. That's the word used to describe the Pottstown Roller Derby Rockstars by its president and head coach Tamrin "Splinch" Jenison.

"We used to be 50 skaters strong," said Jenison, estimating that there are about 22 women active in league this season.

This is Jenison's fifth season with PRDR -- she's one of the only skaters still active in the league since its start in 2010.

<![CDATA[Brandywine Heights Volleyball family learns 'even in hard times, success is possible']]> In October 2013, the Kutztown Patriot shared the story of the Gehmans, a self-proclaimed volleyball family, and their son Logan who decided to make a drastic change by pursuing volleyball in Southern California after the death of his father.

Now, after spending nearly two years playing volleyball in Redondo Beach, Logan has returned home to play his junior year for the Brandywine Heights High School team with hopes of passing on the experience he has gained from his journey.

<![CDATA[Twin Valley's Ament, Schlegels capture district AA championships]]> Twin Valley High School's girls swimmers, coached by Brian Emerich, enjoyed a huge showing in Class AA during the District 3 M & T Bank Championships at Cumberland Valley High School Feb. 27-28. The Raiders placed fifth overall as a team.

Freshman Taylor Ament captured the district title in the 100-yard backstroke with a team record time of 1:00.
