<![CDATA[Nick Sturm competes in the Caesar Rodney Half Marathon]]> Hamburg High grad Nick Sturm competed in the 51st annual Caesar Rodney Half Marathon in Wilmington, Delaware. The race benefited the American Lung Association. Sturm finished 13th out of 1,400 runners, first in his age group with a time of 1:17:13, seven minutes behind the overall winner. This was his first half marathon.

1. The Royals swept a three game home stand last week, beginning with a 6-2 win over the Orlando Solar Bears on Wednesday, and then taking back-to-back one-goal decisions over the Kalamazoo on Friday (5-4) and Saturday (2-1).

This Friday the Philadelphia Eagles return to Hamburg for the Battle of the Birds at 7 p.m. at the Hamburg Area High School gymnasium.

Select players from the Philadelphia Eagles will take on the Hamburg Hawks, a team made up of some of the best local athletes in the Hamburg Area School District including teachers, administrators and coaches.

The home team put up a good fight and certainly put on a great show as Benfer's Pride fell to the Harlem Wizards by only 4 points on Sunday, March 30, with a final score of 91-87.

An afternoon full of fun, dancing, music, games and of course basketball took place in the Tulpehocken Area Junior/Senior High School gymnasium as a team of service-oriented people from the Bernville community came together against six players from the Harlem Wizards, a professional basketball team based in New Jersey.

<![CDATA[Oley Valley's Skyler Fretz heading to Penn State University]]> Skyler Fretz recently completed her senior season as a member of the Oley Valley High School field hockey team. Earlier this week, she signed her national letter of intent to play at Penn State University next fall.

Fretz had plenty of options. Many schools wanted her on their team, but she wasn't even sure if she wanted to play at a Division 1 school.

<![CDATA[Twin Valley U14 girls tear it up!]]> The Twin Valley U14 girls field hockey team tore it up in the new dome at Spooky Nook Sports with two wins recently. The Twin Valley Middle School girls played all winter at the brand new sports facility, winning 15 games with 12-3 record. The last two games were played in the new dome!

The NFHCA Scholars of Distinction award recognizes Division II field hockey student-athletes who've achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.
