This year one of the six choral ensembles that attended this event was the selected choir (also originally known as the Chamber Singers) from Hamburg Area High School.

Now in its 24th season, Shocktoberfest has been a Halloween staple in the greater Reading area since owner Pat Konopelski opened the theme park's doors in 1990.

<![CDATA[Playcrafters of Skippack to present 'Dark of the Moon' this weekend]]> In the spirit of Halloween, Playcrafters of Skippack has chosen the ethereally spirited "Dark of the Moon" as its fall season production, where witches, superstition, and young love mix into a cauldron of tragedy amid the rustic setting of the Appalachian Mountains. The play, written by Howard Richardson and William Berney in 1939, had a successful 10-month stint on Broadway prior to a national tour and has become a classically archived stage production.

This Saturday, local band BlackRue will be performing with Philadelphia based rock bands Soraia and John Faye at Fujiyama's Sunset Lounge.

BlackRue features Boyertown residents Buck Reed as songwriter and singer, Brianna Sig on drums and vocals, Matt Stabley on bass and Blaine Alderfer of Sumneytown on guitar.

<![CDATA[Two Brandywine Heights seniors accepted into All-National Band, slated to perform at Grand Ole Opry Oct. 29]]> Two Brandywine Heights High School seniors are the first from the district to be accepted into the All-National Honors Ensemble Concert Band and will perform with them Oct. 29 at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

Noah CoCo, 17, and David Mayrhofer, 18, submitted video auditions in June and were notified of their acceptance on Aug.

<![CDATA[Built by ancestors, a Dieffenbach joins efforts to restore its musical heritage]]> Gleaming in its regal, historic accoutrements, the windpipes of the nearly 200-year-old Dieffenbach gracing the Altalaha Lutheran Church at Rehrersburg can to this day be trusted to render a most divine and powerful sound.

The church was established in 1757 and the organ built and dedicated to it in 1817 by Christian Dieffenbach (1769-1829).

Held Oct. 17, 18, 19, 24, 25 and 26 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kutztown, Boeing-Boeing is a farce, set in Paris in the 1960s, which revolves around the lives of wealthy bachelor Bernard, his three air hostesses to whom he's engaged simultaneously (without their knowledge), the housekeeper and his college friend visiting from the United States.

<![CDATA[Fiber Artist and Kutztown student Kim Tanzos to be Artist in Residence at Clay on Main]]> Clay on Main is pleased to present fiber artist Kimberly Tanzos as a this year's selected Artist in Residence from Sunday, Oct. 19 to Wednesday, Oct. 22. Tanzos is a graduate of Kutztown University, where she earned a Bachelor's of Science in Art Education with a minor in Crafts. She is currently works as a museum educator at the Allentown Art Museum and is a resident artist at the Banana Factory in Bethlehem.
