Local history buffs are in luck this holiday season as the Amity Heritage Society brings history to your home.

The heritage society had a true treasure on their hands after discovering a collection of historic relics in an old Amity barn in 2007. Inside the barn, they found not only original clothing, but over 200 original glass negatives that have not been seen since the 1930s. The negatives were taken by Rufus Levengood and Katie Ehrgood between the estimated years of 1905 and 1915. Reproductions of the prints were made by the society.

With the photos, the historical society created calendars to showcase the beauty of Amity’s history.

This is the second consecutive year the Amity Heritage Society has presented the calendar.

‘We’ll be [producing] calendars for the next 20 years,’ Charles Miller, Amity Heritage Society, said.

Masthof Press, Morgantown, printed the calendars.

Order your copy of the Amity Heritage Society’s 2014 calendar today as there are only 200 in stock.

The calendars are sold at Boone Area Library, Manatawny Creek Winery, Boyer’s Market, Amity Heritage Building, McGrath Automotive, the Hay Creek Festival, Amity Township Municipal Building, Glick’s Nursery during their poinsettia sale Dec. 6 through Dec. 9, Yellow House Hotel and Douglassville Hotel. Flyers are available at various locations around the township.
