Dr. Rebecca Lister, Lebanon Valley College professor of music, will perform a vocal recital Sunday, March 16 at 3 p.m. in Zimmerman Recital Hall of the Suzanne H. Arnold Gallery. The program is free and open to the public.

A collaborative recital, adjunct instructor Michelle Barraclough and two of her flute students, seniors Emily Peters and Brittney Shue, will join with Lister on a lively Bach trio for three flutes and soprano. Also featured will be Mrs. Serena Heffner, with whom Lister will sing Monteverdi duets for two sopranos. Dr. Shelly Moorman-Stahlman will also accompany Lister on piano and portative organ. Other pieces included are by Carlos Guastavino, Michael Head, John Jacob Niles, and Florentin Gimenez. The recital will be dedicated to LVC’s graduating class of 2014, who Lister say, ‘Are truly special, and remain a source of inspiration for me.’

Dr. Lister earned her bachelor’s degree in music education at James Madison University and continued her graduate studies at Florida State University where she earned a master’s degree in voice performance and certificate in early music. Later she completed her doctorate of performance at FSU in 1997.

She teaches private voice lessons, vocal literature, vocal pedagogy, and diction at LVC as well as offering master classes on vocal technique and style. Although early music is one of her main interests, Lister enjoys repertoire from all style periods, especially chamber music, music by female composers, and art songs in Spanish by contemporary composers.
