Tables filled the Hamburg Field House on Sunday, May 4, with Bingo players ready to have some fun for a good cause.

The Vendor Bingo event, hosted by the Perry Elementary PTO, was for the Perry Elementary playground fund. Starting in 2012, the PTO has been holding fundraisers in hopes of reaching the $50,000 the district asked the group to raise for the playground.

‘This is the last major fundraiser before we will need to make a final selection and pay for the Perry Elementary Playground equipment,’ said Andrew Raugh, Hamburg Area School District school director, before the event.

Prior to Sunday’s event, the PTO with the help of the community raised a total of $43,552.33 for the playground. All proceeds from the event which featured not only Bingo, but a variety of vendors and food as well, benefited the playground fund. This was not an uncommon situation for the PTO as historically the group has paid for the playground equipment.

‘Thank you to all the vendors, volunteers, Bingo players, sponsors, organizers and everyone who helped to make this event possible,’ commented Raugh on Facebook. ‘Thank you to everyone who came out to help support the Perry PTO raise money for the Perry Elementary playground fund!’
