At their recent mother-daughter luncheon held at the Blue Mountain Family Restaurant in Shartlesville, members of the Woman’s Club of Strausstown enjoyed nostalgic pictures along with their meals. Each member brought along a picture of her mother, and all the pictures were displayed for guests peruse and take a guess as to whose mother was whose. After the answers were revealed, the women traded anecdotes about their moms and listened to inspirational facts about mothers in general as part of the program entitled “I Remember Mama.”
Also part of the program was the transition from one set of officers to a new one. President from 2012 to 2014 Pearl Wurst thanked her fellow officers as well as committee chairs for their work over the past two years and presented them with Gerber daisy plants as tokens of her thanks. Members were also asked to sign up to be hostesses for next year and to help with the club stand at the Fall Festival on Sept. 13.
New officers for the 2014-2016 club term were installed by member Susan Behm in a light-hearted ceremony which mused on the subject of “bag ladies.” Each new officer was presented with a personalized bag as her badge of office as part of the swearing-in. New officers are President Margaret Behm, First Vice-President Pearl Wurst, Second Vice-President Cathy Diggan, Recording Secretary Bonnie Drescher, Corresponding Secretary Robin Faust, and Treasurer Elaine Hamm. The new club year will begin with the first meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at the Strausstown Community Campus.
