Meet Christ Our Savior Anglican Fellowship On July 14

NEW HOLLAND— Rev. William C. Kenney will introduce Christ Our Savior Anglican Fellowship on Monday, July 14, beginning at 7 p.m. in the chapel at Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland.

The presentation is part of the retirement community’s annual Meet the Congregations lecture series. This year’s theme is pre-Reformation congregations.

Christ Our Savior is an Anglican fellowship under St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church in Southampton, Pa. Formed in 2005, it is affiliated with the Anglican Mission in the Americas. Initially, the congregation met in members’ homes and at Sunline Coach in Denver. Since August 2007, the congregation has met on Sunday afternoons in the chapel at Garden Spot Village.

Meet Christ The Saviour Orthodox Church On July 21

Father Stephen Vernak, pastor of Christ the Saviour Orthodox Church, will talk about his congregation on Monday, July 21, beginning at 7 p.m. in the chapel at Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland.

The presentation is part of the retirement community’s annual Meet the Congregations lecture series. This year’s theme is pre-Reformation congregations.

In 1054, the Great Schism separated the Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches. The first Orthodox Christian mission to America arrived in Alaska in 1794.

Established in January 1963, Christ the Saviour was the first Orthodox Church in Harrisburg. It has grown from a few dedicated families to a vibrant, active community with hundreds of members and several parish organizations, including St. Romanus the Melodist a capella choir. The parish is a part of the Orthodox Church in America Diocese of Eastern Pennsylvania.
