Twin Valley School District officials are pleased to announce Robeson Elementary Center was selected as a spring 2014 recipient of The Respect Program Education Grant sponsored by J.P. Mascaro & Sons, in the amount of $3,250.

The purpose of the grant is to encourage and support teachers in spreading the message of respect, by giving schools the opportunity to continue to implement educational activities that promote respect for people, property, and the environment.

The grant application, written by Karen Richards-Schmitz, Robeson Elementary guidance counselor, outlined ways in which the grant will be used to expand Robeson Elementary Centers character education program, Be a Bucket Filler. Bucket Slips are distributed to students who fill others buckets/make peers feel good about themselves, by practicing helpful, respectful, and responsible acts during the school day. These Bucket Slips are entered into a drawing and winners are announced monthly.

The grant is also being used to purchase a Promethean Board for one kindergarten classroom, as well as to supplement the program through additional texts and materials.
