Salem Belleman’s Church

On Sunday, Aug. 10, Salem Belleman’s Church, 3540 Belleman’s Church Road, Mohrsville, celebrated the Ninth Sunday after Pentecost at the regular worship times of 7:45 and 10:15 a.m. The musician for the early service was Cheryl Felix while Linda Hartman, The Director of Music Ministry, played for the second service. The scripture readings for the services were 1 Kings 19:9-18 and Romans 10:5-15 which were read by Nikole Botscheller at the early service and by Dennis Felix at the late service. Also, the Gospel reading was from Matthew 14:22-33. The services were held in the historic 1815 Belleman’s Church building.

Salem United Methodist Church Shoemakersville

Welcome to the corner of Sixth and Main Streets in Shoemakersville for our Sunday morning worship service at 9 a.m. Scripture for the morning is Matthew 15:10-28. Karen Kershner will have the Children’s Message. Sunday School classes follow a time of refreshments at 10:30 a.m.

Leadership and Nominations will meet on Monday, Aug. 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Parsonage.

Our Charge conference will be held on Sunday, Sept. 7 as a Church Conference. This means that all members of Salem are invited to attend and may vote. S/PPRC will meet at 11:30 a.m. and the Conference will begin at 12 noon.

Pastor Bill and Connie will lead a small group study of the movie “The Son of God” during Sunday School this fall. The study was developed by Rick Warren, and consists of six sessions of viewing and discussion. Please invite friends and neighbors for this timely study.

We will have an all church Talent Show for Rally Day on Sunday, Sept. 14. Any talent, from written, graphic to performing arts are invited. There is a sign-up sheet in the back of the sanctuary.

The Mission Team is selling Chicken Dinners as a fund raiser for next year’s trip. The dinner is on Saturday, Sept. 13 from 3-6 p.m. Tickets are available from any member of the Mission Team.

Now is the perfect time to gather school items for the Operation Christmas Child boxes. We still need about 30 boxes, and always need socks and underwear in child sizes small, medium and large.

St. Thomas Church

The altar flowers were presented in honor of the birthday of Dan Billings by Frank. Special music was provided by Jill and Rob Klein. The Acolyte was Makayla Rioux. On Aug. 17 there will be a combined worship service followed by a picnic beginning at 10 a.m.

Friedens Church, Shartlesville

A blood drive is scheduled for Saturday Sept. 6 at Friedens Church in Shartlesville from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The drive is in Honor of Elijah Hoss, a 6th grade student at Hamburg Middle School, and a resident of Upper Bern Twp. who is diagnosed with Leukemia.

Donors need to be at least 17 years old and weigh minimum of 110 pounds. Call Marie Strause at 610-488-5072 to register.
