There was something for every Virginville Grange member of any age to enjoy at this delightful event. Virginville Grange meets on the first and third Wednesday night of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Virginville Grange Hall, Route 143, Virginville. But the Wednesday, Sept. 3, meeting was a special night.

All members were invited to the Reading Railroad Heritage Museum, 500 South Third Street, Hamburg, for a wonderful experience. More than sixty members and friends, spanning from two years of age to 91, attended the festivities and enjoyed a guided walking tour among a variety of railcars, a short video played in the theater room, and an exhibit hall filled with numerous, interesting historical displays. A set of train car passenger seats placed in a photo booth setting created the perfect opportunity for our members to snap memorable photographs. After enjoying the sights, members were invited to shop in the quaint store that offered goods for sale related to the train industry, as well as, an interactive train display for the kids (and adults, too!) where at the push of a button whistles blew, lights turned on, and trains took off. A toy train set, where the kids could be hands-on, was a final highlight of the evening.

Virginville Grange’s next meeting will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m., Virginville Grange Hall. Everyone is invited to attend. Judging of the Program Coordinator’s Contests, including art and photo, will be held. The speaker and subject for the evening will be Marilyn Fox, History of Blue Marsh.
