To help celebrate the harvest season as well as Thanksgiving, Greenwich-Lenhartsville, Elementary School in the Kutztown Area School District had the distinct honor of displaying a VERY large pumpkin in our lobby from November 10-14.

The pumpkin was on loan from a family member of one of our teachers at Greenwich, Mrs. Dahlquist. Part of this display was a fun activity in which students in every grade had the opportunity to guess the weight of the pumpkin in pounds.

Each student was given one guess. To earn a second guess, students were asked to donate at least one non-perishable food item (canned good, dry food, etc..). The closest guess to the actual weight of the pumpkin, wins!

The actual weight of the pumpkin was 311 pounds. Winners were chosen from each grade level. Those names were announced on Monday, November 17. The winners got to autograph the pumpkin and have their picture taken with the pumpkin.

The donated food items will be delivered to a local food bank to help those families in need this holiday season.
