St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran “Smoke” Church

St. Paul’s welcomes you to attend our Sunday morning worship service at 2613 Old Route 22, Hamburg. We are near Edenburg. Our service starts at 9 a.m. Our Pastor is The Rev. Elna Stratton and our organist/ choir director is Donald Ryan. Our worship service is followed by a fellowship time with refreshments. The Bridge Church Sunday Morning Worship Service times are at 9 a.m. & 11 a.m. All of our Bridge Street Kid’s Ministries meet downstairs where you will be able to check-in your child before each service begins. Bridge Street Kid’s Ministries range in ages from 0 thru 4th Grade.

On Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m., we host Family night. Nursery care, Royal Rangers and M’Pact Girls Clubs (K-4th) are downstairs. 56 Club for all students in 5th-6th grades and Momentum Youth meets in the TBC Youth Room for students in 7th through 12th grade. Praise, Prayer & The Word will be a time of prayer for adults in our Sanctuary for the month of January. This is the kick-off to our winter quarter before our adult life group classes begin Wednesday, February 7th.

Our Divorce Care Support Group is beginning Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. Divorce Care is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. We also open the door to recovery by sharing our experiences and hopes with one another. Celebrate Recovery is open to men and women ages 18+. It’s not just for people struggling with substance abuse. St. Thomas ChurchThe worship service was opened with a selection by the Jubilation Ringers. The altar flowers were presented in memory of their parents, Stan and Dorothy Lessig and Earl and Dorothy Thomas by Glenn and Millie Lessig. The rose was presented in memory of Elsie Kraatz by her children and grandchildren. The Souper Bowl will be observed on Feb. 1. Bring cans of soup for the S.O.F.A. Project Food Pantry. Evangelical Lutheran Friedens Church

The altar flowers were presented in honor of the birthday of Mike McCann by his wife, Deb. The bulletin was sponsored in honor of the birthday of Paul Zerbe by his wife, Joyce. Holy Communion will be observed on Feb. 1. A Soup Sale will be held on Feb. 11. A Town Hall Meeting with Senator Mike Folmer will be held on Feb. 14 at 6:30 p.m. The purpose of the meeting will be information, education, and discussion of Medical Cannabis.

Salem Belleman’s ChurchOn Sunday, Jan. 25, Salem Belleman’s Church, 3540 Belleman’s Church Road, Mohrsville, celebrated the Third Sunday after Epiphany at the regular Worship times of 7:45 and 10:15 a.m. The musician for both services was Linda Hartman, The Director of Music Ministry. The scripture readings for the services were Jonah 3:1-5, 10 and 1 Corinthians 7:29-31 which were read by Diane Dreisbach at the early service and by Dottie Cowan at the late service. Also, the Gospel reading was from Mark 1:14-20.

Salem United Methodist Church Shoemakersville

Welcome to the corner of Sixth and Main Streets in Shoemakersville for our 9 a.m. worship service. This Sunday is SOUPER Sunday at Salem. Wear your favorite team colors and bring canned goods, non-perishables and paper grocery bags for the Northern Berks Food Pantry. (Communion has been moved to the second Sunday this month.) The morning scripture is Galatians 4:4-7 and the pastor’s message, A Prayerful Life, is based on Luke 2:22-40. Beth Moore has the Children’s Message.

Administrative Board will meet on Monday, Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.

The Jacobs Brothers will present a sacred Gospel concert on Sunday, Feb. 15 here at Salem. The service begins at 9:30 a.m. Following the concert, we will have a covered-dish brunch. There is a sign-up sheet in the back of the sanctuary. The meat and dessert are provided.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. We will be glad to teach you to knit or crochet and help you with supplies if this is new to you. Prayer shawls are available for special needs. Please contact Carolann Seifrit.

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church

SPECIAL DAY: The good people of Zion’s Lutheran Church, Perry Township have extended an invitation to the members of St. John’s to worship with them on Sunday, Feb. 1 at their 10:30 a.m. service, and to attend their Sunday School session, at 9:15 a.m. Following worship there will be a social time in their fellowship hall with pizza and salad. Plate offering will be divided between Opportunity House and North Berks Food Pantry as part of Souper Bowl of Caring. Bring your St. John’s offering envelopes and place them in the plates. Offering envelopes will be sorted after the service and we will receive any St. John’s envelopes to bring back. Please plan to join us for this joint service of worship.

BOY SCOUT SUNDAY: Boy Scout Sunday will be held on Feb. 8. On that day two services will be held. An early service will begin at 8 a.m., followed by the Boy Scout Service (with Presentation of Awards) to begin at 10:15 a.m. in the auditorium. The Scouts only breakfast will be held in the Primary Room at 8 a.m. We are holding two services due to a larger anticipated attendance for the Scout service. If you are interested in attending the scout ceremony come to 10:15 a.m., if not you might want to try the 8 a.m. worship experience. Either way, we will look forward to seeing you on Feb. 8, at 8 a.m. or 10:15 a.m.

Needed: Used/New Suitcases/Duffels: The youth group is collecting gently used or new suitcases/duffels as part of their retreat project. The suitcases/duffels are for Berks County Children and Youth who gives them to children to use when they are leaving an unsafe living environment. Items can be placed in the box near the auditorium by Sunday, Feb. 1.

Laurel Center Super Bowl Party: On Sunday, Feb. 1 meet at the Laurel Center by 6:45 p.m. Come cheer on your favorite team with the Laurel residents. The event lasts for an hour. Pick up is at 8 p.m.

Sunday, Feb. 1 is the Fourth Sunday after Epiphany. Worship Service will be at 10:15 a.m. at Zion’s Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m. The next Saturday Night Communion Service will be on Feb. 7 at 5:30 p.m.

Zion’s Lutheran Church, Perry Twp.

On Sunday, Feb. 1, the congregation of St. John’s Lutheran Church will be worshipping with the people of Zion’s Lutheran Church, 354 Zion’s Church Road, Perry Township-Shoemakersville. St. John’s nave is currently being renovated. The Rev. Burl Latshaw, interim pastor at St. John’s will preach at the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Joint Sunday School classes will be held at 9:15 a.m. The Adult Choirs will sing together at 10:30 a.m. For Souper Bowl Sunday, there will be a soup and salad luncheon shared in the Fellowship Hall. A special offering will be connected to share with Opportunity House in Reading and the Northern Berks Food Pantry.

Salem-Berne United Methodist Church

Join us Feb. 1 for Morning Worship and Holy Communion at 10:15 a.m. The Sermon title is “Facing Reality with Faith.” The Scripture is Phillipians 4:6 and Matthew 8:23-27. The Liturgist is Phil Geschwindt. The Greeters are Lynn Kreider and Janet Gesicki. The Children’s Message will be given by Linda Seyler and the Acolyte is Shannon Carvin.

The Chicken Pot Pie dinner is Jan. 31 from 4 – 7 p.m. Dinner is by donation and will benefit the August mission trip to Red Bird Mission in Beverly, KY.
