NORTHERN BERKS MINISTERIUMThe Community Lenten Series will be held on Thursdays though March 26. The theme for the series is “Close Encounters of Grace that Free Us.” Gatherings will be held each Thursday in Lent at 11:30 a.m. at a different area church. Gatherings will include a service of prayer, reflection, and conclude with a soup and bread lunch. A freewill offering will be taken in support of the Ministerium’s emergency response outreach ministry. All are welcome.

The final session is March 26: “Grace: Freely Given, Costly Lived,” Zion Lutheran, 354 Zion’s Church Road, Perry Twp.

This week at Salem Church: Our Coffee Fellowship was at 8:30 a.m. Our Worship Service was at 9 a.m. followed by Sunday School for all ages at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Dave Long presented the message “Friendship 101” based on Matthew 7. The Bridge Church Sunday Morning Worship Service times are at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. All of our Bridge Street Kid’s Ministries meet downstairs where you will be able to check-in your child before each service begins. Bridge Street Kid’s Ministries range in ages from 0 thru 4th Grade.

On Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m., we host Family night. Nursery care, Royal Rangers and M’Pact Girls Clubs (K-4th) are downstairs. 56 Club for all students in 5th-6th grades and Momentum Youth meets in the TBC Youth Room for students in 7th through 12th grade. Our adult life group classes continue tonight, Wednesday at 7 p.m. The classes being offered are as follows: Divorce Care Support Group: a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences (there is a cost for class materials). Grief Share is offered Tuesdays at 7 p.m., and there is a cost for class materials. Grief Share is a grief recovery support group for anyone who has recently lost a loved one. Grief Share is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. This class can be joined at any point during its 13 week course. Don’t go through the challenge of loss alone. These support groups are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. You’ll gain access to valuable resources to help you deal with the pain and look forward to tomorrow.

Our Easter Egg-Stravaganza is this Saturday, March 28 at 10 a.m. Join us for our Free Family Event at the Hamburg Park! This includes an Easter Egg Hunt for kids 1-10 years old, prizes, bunny adoptions, give-a-ways, candy, an Easter Bunny, and more. There is no cost for this event so bring your whole family! Rain Date: Saturday, April 4.

The Bridge Church is hosting a special service on Good Friday, April 3 at 7 p.m. Join us for this traditional service in our Sanctuary. We are also hosting our annual Easter Services on Sunday, April 5 at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

By applying the 8 Recovery Principles within the 12-step program, we open ourselves up to God’s grace so that we can break free. We also open the door to recovery by sharing our experiences and hopes with one another. Celebrate Recovery is open to men and women ages 18+. It’s not just for people struggling with substance abuse. This program is for anyone who feels like their life is out of control and is looking for a safe place to deal with a “hurt, habit, or hang-up.” Walk-ins welcome anytime! Zion’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Perry Township

Wednesday Lenten Worship continues today with our last Lenten worship at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. in the Gold Room Lenten Chapel. The theme is The Parable of the Prodigal Son. On Wednesdays, Soup is shared at 5:45 p.m. in the Church Library Adult Study is at 6:15 p.m. and Worship is at 7 p.m.

Tomorrow, Thursday,March 26, Zion’s Lutheran will host the Northern Berks Ministerium Lenten service at 11:30 a.m. with the theme Grace Freely Given and Costly Lived. Soup follows the service in the Fellowship Hall.

This Sunday, March 29, is Palm Sunday with worship at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sunday School for all ages meets at 9:15 a.m. come for the Procession with Palms and learn about Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem.

Worship on Maundy Thursday, April 2 at 11 a.m. and at 7 p.m. Participate in the annual Northern Berks Ministerium Cross Walk beginning at 11 a.m. at Victory Chapel and ending at First UCC. Worship on Good Friday at 7 p.m.

First Communion classes continue THIS SUNDAY, March 29 after the 10:30 a.m. worship service and run until 1:30 p.m. including lunch. A Traditional Easter Egg Hunt for hand colored eggs will be held on Saturday, April 4 at 9:30 a.m. A special Children’s Easter Program will be held on Easter Sunday, April 5 at 9 a.m. featuring a T.V. Show called “Jerusalem City News.” An Egg Hunt for plastic eggs will be held after the program.

Salem Belleman’s ChurchOn Sunday, March 22, Salem Belleman’s Church, 3540 Belleman’s Church Road, Mohrsville, observed the Fifth Sunday of Lent at the regular Worship times of 7:45 and 10:15 a.m. The musician for the early service was Sharon Duvall while Linda Hartman, The Director of Music Ministry, played for the second service. The scripture readings for the services were Jeremiah 31:31-34 and Hebrews 5:5-10 which were read by Hannah Phillips at the early service and by Joe Barton at the late service. Also, the Gospel reading was from John 12:20-33.

Salem United Methodist Church Shoemakersville

Welcome to the corner of Sixth and Main Streets in Shoemakersville for our Palm Sunday Celebration. Helen James will read the morning scripture: Zechariah:8:3-8. The Pastor’s message, “Day of Applause,” is based upon Luke 19:28-39. Karen Kershner will have the Children’s Message. Following church and Confirmation Class there will be an Easter Egg Hunt. This is for children and youth. Helen James has placed flowers on the altar this morning.

There is a special Church Conference on Thursday, March 26 at 6:30 p.m. The subject is amending the Pastor’s covenant with the church. All church members are encouraged to attend this meeting.

The mid-week Lenten service on Wed. March 25 is at Salem-Berne UMC. Following a bread and soup dinner at 6 p.m., the service will feature Rev. Walt Breiner speaking about Mary Magdalene. Rev. Hostetter will speak at the Holy Thursday service at Salem UMC on April 2 which will begin at 7 p.m. There will be no soup and bread prior to this service. On April 3 we will be at St. Michael’s Church for our Good Friday Service. Rev. Breiner will speak about “Others at the Cross?” This service will be at 7 p.m.

Easter Services begin with a Sunrise service at Salem-Berne, in the pavilion at 6:30 a.m. Breakfast will be served immediately after the service. Our 9 a.m. worship service will feature special music by Joan Yoder and The Celestial Chimes.

The March meeting for the Youth will be at Salem-Berne from 6-7:30 p.m. The theme is The Colors of Easter.

The Youth Mission Team just added two new members who need help raising funds to travel to Accident,MD in June for the work week. So, please come to the Taco Dinner on March 27, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. to help us fund our trip.

Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday, March 28 at 10 a.m. The youth group is sponsoring an Easter Egg Hunt for toddlers through 5th graders. There will be prizes for each of the age groups. Come and meet the Easter Bunny! The event is held rain or shine.

Laurel Center Date Change: Due to Easter being the first Sunday of the month the youth group will be going to the Laurel Center on Sunday, April 19 for BINGO night. Meet at the Laurel Center at 6:45 p.m. Pick up is at 8 p.m.

Thrivent Members Pulled Pork and Beef Brisket Sale: Due to unforeseen circumstances, The St. John’s/Thrivent Pulled Pork and Beef Brisket Sale scheduled for May has been canceled.

Sunday, April 5 is Easter Sunday. Worship Service will be at 7:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. There be Maundy Thursday service on April 2 at 7 p.m. The next Saturday Night Communion Service will be on April 4 at 5:30 p.m.

St. Michael’s ChurchSunday March 29, we worship at 10:15 a.m. with the beginning of Holy Week and celebration of Palm Sunday. We commemorate Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem before his crucifixion. As Jesus rode into the city on a donkey, the Jews gathered around him, throwing cloaks and palm branches on the road and exclaiming praises. We will have blessing of palms in the church and then process forward to receive them. It is a worship service filled with all the pageantry of Christ’s entry into Jerusalem. Children will conclude the parade with streamers and palms.
