NORTHERN BERKS MINISTERIUM FUNDRAISER

The Northern Berks Ministerium is working in conjunction with the local Salvation Army for a Smokey Bear BBQ to benefit the Community Assistance Fund, on Sunday, April 26, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. BBQs include one-third pound pulled pork or beef brisket with BBQ sauce, bun, baked potato, applesauce & drink for a cost. Baked goods will be available for purchase. Pick up location at the Salvation Army (700 S. Fourth Street, next to Dollar General). Purchase tickets at most area church offices, the Salvation Army, Dollar General, and Kay Greenawalt State Farm Insurance Agency. The Community Assistance Fund helps low-income families and senior citizens of our area with food, utilities, rent, heating and clothing.

St. Michael’s ChurchThursday, April 2, is Holy Thursday, we celebrate Holy Communion 7 p.m., At St. Luke’s, Shoemakersville. We commemorate the institution of the Holy Eucharist at the Last Supper, on the night before Jesus Christ was crucified. The Rev. Paul Buzzard will preach. Worship concludes by stripping the altar bare of its linens and candles. Like the first Christians bereft of Jesus and mourning the two days after the crucifixion, the church stands unadorned until Easter morning.

Friday, April 3, we worship at 7 p.m. Several congregations will join us. The Rev Walt Breiner will preach. A Joint Choir will sing. The service recreates the betrayal, abandonment, and agony of the events, and it is left unfinished, because the story isn’t over until Easter Day.

Sunday, April 5, 6:30 a.m. Like the women at the tomb we will go at first light to look for the Lord and celebrate His Resurrection. We celebrate Holy Communion at the altar rail.

Sunday, April 5, 7:30-8:30 a.m. Breakfast in the Social Hall by St. Michael’s Aide Society!

Sunday, April 5, 10:15 a.m. We celebrate the resurrection of Jesus with Holy Communion and Pew distribution. A surprise will be distributed to children during the children’s Sermon. The Bell Choir will Ring in the celebration of Christ’s Resurrection!

This Sunday, April 5, is Easter Sunday with Sunrise worship at 6:30 a.m., a Congregation Council member prepared Ham and Egg Breakfast from 7:45 – 9 a.m., a 9 a.m. Children’s Easter program featuring an original television show “Jerusalem City News followed by an egg hunt for plastic eggs and 10:30 a.m. worship. Salem Belleman’s ChurchOn Sunday, March 29, Salem Belleman’s Church, 3540 Belleman’s Church Road, Mohrsville, held Palm Sunday worship services at the regular Worship times of 7:45 and 10:15 a.m. The musician for the early service was Carol Kissinger while Linda Hartman, The Director of Music Ministry, played for the second service. The scripture readings for the services were Zachariah 9:9-12 and Philippians 2:5-11 which were read by George Phillips at the early service and by Cheryl Pszczolkowski at the late service. Also, the Gospel reading was from Matthew 21:1-14.

On Thursday, April 2, Belleman’s is conducting typical Seder meals and worship services in the Fellowship Hall at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. The worship services will also include Holy Communion.

On Friday, April 3, at 7 p.m. Belleman’s will hold its Good Friday worship service.

On Saturday, April 4, at 1:30 p.m. Belleman’s will conduct its annual Children’s Easter Drama and Egg Hunt at the Fellowship Hall.

On Sunday, April 5, Belleman’s will celebrate Easter at three morning worship services. The first service will be a dawn service held at Mohrsville Church of the Brethren at 6:30 a.m., the next service will be in the Belleman’s sanctuary at 7:45 a.m., followed by Sunday school for all ages, at 9 a.m. The third service will begin at 10:15 a.m. with Holy Communion being offered at both the 7:45 and 10:15 a.m. services.

Salem United Methodist Church Shoemakersville

Welcome to the corner of Sixth and Main Streets for our Easter Celebration. Our day begins at the Pavilion at Salem-Berne for the 6:30 a.m. Sunrise service. A sumptuous breakfast buffet is served right after the service. Then we have our 9 a.m. service which includes special music and the White Cross offering, which will be donated to Pennsylvania Veterans. Beth Moore has the Children’s Message.

The Youth Mission Team is holding a breakfast on Sunday, April 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.. This will help the team fund their work week in Accident, MD in June.

Administrative Council will meet on Monday, April 13, at 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.

The next Northern Berks Mission Connexion meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 20.

The Kid’s Club/Youth Group will have a game night at Salem Shoey on April 26 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The Shawl Ministry meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 6-8 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Contact Carolann Seifrit or Beth Moore to request a shawl for a person or family in need. You may join the group at any time to receive patterns and/or yarn for shawls.

The show is “The Church Basement Ladies in A Mighty Fortress Is Our Basement.” There is a cost. This includes the bus, dinner, show, coffee, tea, tax and meal gratuity. Grief Share is offered Tuesdays at 7 p.m., and there is a cost for class materials. Grief Share is a grief recovery support group for anyone who has recently lost a loved one. Grief Share is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. This class can be joined at any point during its 13 week course. Don’t go through the challenge of loss alone. These support groups are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. You’ll gain access to valuable resources to help you deal with the pain and look forward to tomorrow.

The Bridge Church is hosting a special service on Good Friday, April 3 at 7 p.m. Join us for this traditional service in our Sanctuary. We are also hosting our annual Easter Services on Sunday, April 5 at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Memorial Scholarship: Any active member of St. John’s who has been accepted and will attend an approved program of higher education for 2015-2016 can apply for a scholarship which can be used for books and/or other educational supplies. Bear Creek Camp – Residential: Bear Creek Camp’s residential program, for all children who have completed grades 1 -12, is a traditional camp program centered on spiritual growth, outdoor living and small group development. For the camp experience of a lifetime attend a week at Bear Creek Camp. There is a cost for a week at camp – an incredible price for a residential camp at the same price of some day camps. Various discounts are offered. Applications and additional $20 discount coupons are available through Lydia Beck. Financial assistance is available through St. John’s Bear Creek Scholarship program and Bear Creek’s campership fund.
