This Sunday, April 19, the Hamburg Field House will be filled with calls of “B 42” and the like as well as more than 100 raffle items all thanks to the third annual Bingo event from the Perry Elementary Center PTO. The annual event began when the PTO was asked to raise $50,000 for the playground build at the new elementary school a few years ago.
“Since the playground build, PTO funds are low,” said Yvonne Stitzel, of the Perry PTO. “This event is important this year so that we can rebuild our PTO account so that the funds can be available for our students’ needs.”
Proceeds from the event will benefit the students at Perry providing education assemblies, field trips, classroom supplies, Weekly Readers and more. The past two events were called Vendor Bingo which always received great feedback from the community according to Stitzel. This year’s products were changed to Coach and Vera Bradley changing the event to Coach/Vera Bradley Bingo.
Tickets for the Bingo portion of the event sold out quickly, but the public is still invited and encouraged to attend to take a chance at the raffle items which will be open between 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.
“I was shocked at how in demand the tickets were,” commented Stitzel. “We sold out in 15 days once we opened the ticket sales to the public. There were a total of 250 tickets sold.”
Among the variety of raffle items will also be the classroom baskets that are made by the students and teachers.
“I like the classroom theme baskets. Teachers are given a theme and then students are asked to bring items in to match the theme to place in their baskets. These baskets are part of our raffle the day of the Bingo. It is always nice to look at them and see all of the hard work that was put into them by our students,” said Stitzel when asked her favorite part of the event. “Our PTO President, Tara Green, enjoys seeing the teamwork between our teachers, parents and students.”
Among the more than 100 raffle items area Disney hopper passes, NASCAR race tickets for Pocono Raceway, Keurig 2.0 K450, three Coach bags, five Vera Bradley bags, 32″ LG TV, Dutch Wonderland tickets, IMAX movie tickets, Family Four Pack of Adventure Passes to Lake Tobias, Dutch Apple Theatre Tickets, Maryland Science Center passes, That Bounce Place for Basic Party, Shady Maple gift certificate, Portrait Innovations gift certificate and many more.
“We have worked hard to gather a nice variety of raffle items! Everyone is invited to our event and to take a chance on our raffle items between the hours of 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., you do not have to be present to win,” said Stitzel. “We will also be having two 50/50 drawings through the day. The kitchen will also be open for lunch and baked goods are also available.
