Salem Belleman’s ChurchOn Sunday, April 19, Salem Belleman’s Church, 3540 Belleman’s Church Road, Mohrsville, celebrated the Third Sunday of Easter at the regular Worship times of 7:45 and 10:15 a.m. The musician for the early service was Sharon Duvall while Linda Hartman, The Director of Music Ministry, played for the second service. The scripture readings for the services were Acts 3:12-19 and 1 John 3:1-7. During the late service nine young people were confirmed. They were: Jevin Dougherty, Dylan King, Brenden Livinghouse, Hannah Phillips, Samuel Schreffler, Marissa Spatz, Cheyenne Strunk, Nathan Younker and Stephanie Younker. Congratulations to this year’s Confirmands!

Belleman’s will be hosting its annual Oyster Supper at the church’s Fellowship Hall on Saturday, April 25 from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The menu includes Fried Oysters, Oyster Stew, Oyster Pies, Ham Platters and NEW Steamed Shrimp. NORTHERN BERKS MINISTERIUM FUNDRAISER

The Northern Berks Ministerium is working in conjunction with the local Salvation Army for a Smokey Bear BBQ to benefit the Community Assistance Fund, on Sunday, April 26, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. BBQs include one-third pound pulled pork or beef brisket with BBQ sauce, bun, baked potato, applesauce and drink for a cost. Baked goods will be available for purchase. Pick up location at the Salvation Army (700 S. Fourth Street, next to Dollar General). Purchase tickets at most area church offices, the Salvation Army, Dollar General, and Kay Greenawalt State Farm Insurance Agency. The Community Assistance Fund helps low-income families and senior citizens of our area with food, utilities, rent, heating and clothing.

This week at Salem Church: Our Fellowship Coffee was at 8:30 a.m. followed by our Worship Service was at 9 a.m. Sunday School for all ages was at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Dave Long presented “The Message of the Cross” based on I Corinthians 1:18-25. Our greeters were Bob and Shelva Schaner. Our nursery attendant was Linda Wood, and our Junior Church leader was Kolleen Long.

First Reformed Church of the United Church of Christ

At the corner of Third and Pine Streets in Hamburg. We will host a Community Hymn Sing on Sunday, April 26 beginning at 6:30 p.m.

During a recent Sunday morning service, members enjoyed singing hymns selected by the congregation. It was so enjoyable and so well received that the Worship and Music Committee decided to offer a Hymn Sing opportunity to the entire community. The singing will take place in the sanctuary and will be followed by fellowship with light refreshments in the church auditorium.

Everyone who loves hymn singing is welcome and encouraged to attend. Invite your friends and neighbors as well.

First Reformed UCC Church holds Sunday School every week at 9 a.m. and a Worship Service at 10:15 a.m. led by Rev. Susan Ohl, interim pastor. Visitors are always welcome.

Grief Share is offered Tuesdays at 7 p.m., and there is a cost for class materials. Grief Share is a grief recovery support group for anyone who has recently lost a loved one. Grief Share is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. This class can be joined at any point during its 13 week course. Don’t go through the challenge of loss alone. These support groups are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. You’ll gain access to valuable resources to help you deal with the pain and look forward to tomorrow.

We are offering three new classes beginning Wednesday, May 13 at 7 p.m. These three-week classes include: Dare to Discipline, an insightful class on parenting your children (there is a cost for the study guide), Your Legacy, a class about leaving a spiritual legacy for the generation beneath yours whether it’s children, grandchildren, or loved ones (there is a cost for the study guide), and our TBC Welcome Class, if you’re interested in learning about the history of TBC, why we’re here, and how you can be a part of what’s going on come check out this free and insightful class!

Join Celebrate Recovery that meets on Monday Evenings at 7 p.m. Celebrate Recovery is a 12-step Recovery program where people gain freedom, healing, and accountability for life’s hurts, habits, and hang-ups. By applying the 8 Recovery Principles within the 12-step program, we open ourselves up to God’s grace so that we can break free. We also open the door to recovery by sharing our experiences and hopes with one another. Celebrate Recovery is open to men and women ages 18+. It’s not just for people struggling with substance abuse. This program is for anyone who feels like their life is out of control and is looking for a safe place to deal with a “hurt, habit, or hang-up.” Walk-ins welcome anytime! Salem-Berne United Methodist Church

Join us April 26 for Morning Worship at 10:15 a.m. Sunday School is at 9 a.m. The Altar flowers are presented by Linda Seyler. Kids Club and Youth Group will meet this eveing from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church, Shoemakersville.

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church

Bear Creek Camp – Residential: Bear Creek Camp’s residential program, for all children who have completed grades 1 -12, is a traditional camp program centered on spiritual growth, outdoor living and small group development. For the camp experience of a lifetime attend a week at Bear Creek Camp. There is a cost for a week at camp – an incredible price for a residential camp at the same price of some day camps. Various discounts are offered. Applications and additional $20 discount coupons are available through Lydia Beck. Financial assistance is available through St. John’s Bear Creek Scholarship program and Bear Creek’s campership fund.

The Fellowship Committee is planning your Church Picnic at Tilden Township Pavilion on Sunday, Aug. 23. Please mark your calendar and keep this date open. More information will follow as we get closer to the date. Keep in mind, this picnic is for ALL to enjoy worshipping in the Great Outdoors followed by fellowship with your Church Family.

Day Camp: “Jesus Is” – June 22-26, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. An amazing Christ centered day camp for children who have completed Kindergarten – Grade 6. The cost includes snacks, picture, t-shirt, pool admission and lots of fun!

Vacation Bible School: “Everest” – Sunday, July 12 – Thursday, July 16, 6 – 8:30 p.m. For ages 4 – completed Grade 6. New friends, amazing experiments, glacier games, lip-smacking snacks, surprising adventures, and incredible music.

Salem United Methodist Church Shoemakersville

Welcome to the corner of Sixth and Main Streets in Shoemakersville for our 9 a.m. worship service. Pastor Rick is still on vacation this week so Karen Kershner, CSM is our morning speaker. The scripture is Acts 2:12-14, and her message is “What Do We Do Next?” Beth Moore will have the Children’s Message.

The Youth Group/Kid’s Club will meet on Sunday evening at 6 p.m. at Shoey for Game Night. All kids are invited for an evening of fun, food and faith.

We are creating a couple floats for the Children’s Fair parade. If you would like to help, please contact Sonja Rollman. Children’s Fair is June 6 this year. There will also be a Community Worship Service on June 7, in the Shoemakersville Park at 10 a.m. The combined choirs of the local churches are preparing special music for the service. If you would like to join the choir, please call the UM church.

Our Park Service/Covered Dish Brunch will be on June 14 at the Shoemakersville Park at 10 a.m. There will be a sign-up list available for you to let us know what you are bringing, but anyone may attend whether you have a covered dish or not. Debi Irene Wahl is providing the program for the service. Come and bring your friends for this entertaining service.

The Youth Mission Team thanks everyone for their help in raising the funds for the work week in June. We have three new members joining the team in Accident, MD, so we need extra funds this year. If you can help in any way please contact Mary Yoder.
