Our Community Service Center is open to the public every Monday & Tuesday from 1-6 p.m. for those who qualify. The Food Pantry is open the third Sunday of each month from 12-2 p.m. for those who qualify.

WEDNESDAY EVENINGS: The Adventurer & Pathfinder Clubs meet. The Adventurers are for young members 5-8 years old. They meet at our church facility from 6-7:30 p.m. The Pathfinders are for ages 9-18 and they meet at the Blue Mt. SDA Elementary School from 6:30-8 p.m.

St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran “Smoke” Church

St. Paul’s welcomes you to join us on a Sunday morning for worship service at 9 a.m. Our Pastor is the Rev. Elna Stratton and our choir director/organist is Donald Ryan. Our worship service is followed with a fellowship time with refreshments. Sunday School for all ages begins at 10:15 a.m. Our Adult Sunday School Class is a Bible discussion group. We study and discuss the Gospel lesson of the day. The fifth Sunday of Easter, Sunday, May 3 will be a Holy Communion Sunday. Our church is sponsoring a bus trip to Dutch Apple Theatre in Lancaster. The show is the “The Church Basement Ladies in a Mighty Fortress is our Basement. There is a cost per adult. This includes the bus, dinner, show, coffee, tea and meal gratuity. The Bridge Church Sunday Morning Worship Service times are at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. All of our Bridge Street Kid’s Ministries meet downstairs where you will be able to check-in your child before each service begins. Bridge Street Kid’s Ministries range in ages from 0 thru 4th Grade.

Family Night is cancelled this week and next week. Family Night will resume on Wednesday, May 13 at 7 p.m. Nursery care, Royal Rangers and M’Pact Girls Clubs (K-4th) are downstairs. 56 Club for all students in 5th-6th grades and Momentum Youth meets in the TBC Youth Room for students in 7th through 12th grade. Our new three-week classes begin May 13 and will include: Dare to Discipline, an insightful class on parenting your children (there is a cost for the study guide), Your Legacy, a class about leaving a spiritual legacy for the generation beneath yours whether it’s children, grandchildren, or loved ones (there is a cost for the study guide), and our TBC Welcome Class, if you’re interested in learning about the history of TBC, why we’re here, and how you can be a part of what’s going on come check out this free and insightful class! Grief Share is offered Tuesdays at 7 p.m., and there is a cost for class materials. Grief Share is a grief recovery support group for anyone who has recently lost a loved one. Grief Share is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. This class can be joined at any point during its 13 week course. Don’t go through the challenge of loss alone. These support groups are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. You’ll gain access to valuable resources to help you deal with the pain and look forward to tomorrow.

Join Celebrate Recovery that meets on Monday Evenings at 7 p.m. Celebrate Recovery is a 12-step Recovery program where people gain freedom, healing, and accountability for life’s hurts, habits, and hang-ups. By applying the 8 Recovery Principles within the 12-step program, we open ourselves up to God’s grace so that we can break free. We also open the door to recovery by sharing our experiences and hopes with one another. Celebrate Recovery is open to men and women ages 18+. It’s not just for people struggling with substance abuse. This program is for anyone who feels like their life is out of control and is looking for a safe place to deal with a “hurt, habit, or hang-up.” Walk-ins welcome anytime! Salem Belleman’s ChurchOn Sunday, April 26, Salem Belleman’s Church, 3540 Belleman’s Church Road, Mohrsville, celebrated the Fourth Sunday of Easter and Good Shepherd Sunday at the regular Worship times of 7:45 and 10:15 a.m. The musician for both services was Linda Hartman, The Director of Music Ministry. The Gospel reading was from John 10:11-18.

There will only be one worship service at Belleman’s on Sunday, May 3 at 10:15 a.m. This service will be Pastor Bruce Potteigers’ last service at Belleman’s, as he begins his retirement. All are welcome to help celebrate with Pastor Bruce!

Salem United Methodist ChurchWelcome to the corner of Sixth and Main Streets in Shoemakersville for our 9 a.m. worship service. The morning scripture is John 2:1-11, and the pastor’s message “From Inferiority to Fulfillment” is based on Isaiah 62:1-12. Classes for all ages follow worship in Fellowship Hall.

Sunday, May 3 there is a Ga-Ga Tailgating Party at Salem-Berne from 3-7 p.m. In addition to the Ga-Ga Tournament there will be other fun activities and lots of food.

There will be a planning meeting for VBS on Thursday morning, May 7 at 10 a.m. at Salem Shoemakersville. Salem, Salem-Berne and Bethany UMC will unite for VBS at Salem Shoemakersville this summer. All interested parties should plan to attend this meeting, or contact Joan Yoder with your ideas or to volunteer.

Administrative Council will meet Monday, May 7 at 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.

There is a Youth Work Day at Pocono Plateau on Saturday, May 30. A group from Salem will go up to help. If you would like to help, contact Mary Yoder for more details. The next Kid’s Club meeting is on Sunday, May 31 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Salem Berne.

We are working on floats for the 250th Anniversary of Shoemakersville Celebration. To volunteer to help, contact Sonja Rollman.

A combined choir will provide music for the Community Worship Service on June 7 at 10 a.m. in the Shoemakersville Park. Everyone is invited to join, even if you are not in a choir at this time. Please contact your pastor to volunteer.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet on May 12 and 26 in May. Meetings are from 6 to 8 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. You do not need to know how to knit or crochet: we have teachers who would be glad to assist you.

Bear Creek Camp – Residential: Bear Creek Camp’s residential program, for all children who have completed grades 1 -12, is a traditional camp program centered on spiritual growth, outdoor living and small group development. For the camp experience of a lifetime attend a week at Bear Creek Camp. There is a cost for a week at camp – an incredible price for a residential camp at the same price of some day camps. Various discounts are offered. Applications and additional $20 discount coupons are available through Lydia Beck. Financial assistance is available through St. John’s Bear Creek Scholarship program and Bear Creek’s campership fund.

The Fellowship Committee is planning your Church Picnic at Tilden Township Pavilion on Sunday, Aug. 23. Please mark your calendar and keep this date open. More information will follow as we get closer to the date. Keep in mind, this picnic is for ALL to enjoy worshipping in the Great Outdoors followed by fellowship with your Church Family.

Day Camp: “Jesus Is” – June 22-26, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. An amazing Christ centered day camp for children who have completed Kindergarten – Grade 6. The cost includes snacks, picture, t-shirt, pool admission and lots of fun!

Vacation Bible School: “Everest” – Sunday, July 12 – Thursday, July 16, 6 – 8:30 p.m. For ages 4 – completed Grade 6. New friends, amazing experiments, glacier games, lip-smacking snacks, surprising adventures, and incredible music.

DEDICATION SERVICE Next Sunday, May 3 at 10:5 a.m, we celebrate and dedicate the newly renovated sanctuary. PLEASE make every effort to attend this service. A son of St. John’s, Rev. Richard Hafer, will be the Preacher; former associate pastors and interns and members of the Machemer and Koller family have been invited to return. Enjoy celebrating the new renovations with the past & present “saints” of St. John’s. A video presentation of the renovation project will be shown in the Sanctuary beginning at 9:40 a.m. and following the service.

Laurel Center: Chia Pet Craft – Sunday, May 3 Come help the residents make their own homemade chia pet. Meet at the Laurel Center at 6:45 p.m. Pick up is at 8 p.m.

Join us May 3 for Morning Worship at 10:15 a.m. Sunday School is at 9 a.m. The Liturgist is Danelle Samsel and the Greeters are John and Denise Rost.
