Fourth grade students at Perry Elementary Center were given the opportunity to learn more about plants and gardening through the Berks County 4H program on Friday, April 17. Each year, the 4H program, which is funded by Penn State Berks, offers the “Meet the Plants” program to interested schools in order to promote agriculture by teaching students about plants and their importance to us. This program has become a favorite activity for the fourth grade students at Perry Elementary because they are able to learn the different parts of a plant and why those parts are important. Students were also given the opportunity to taste several types of plants and then plant their own tomato plant that they can take home.
