This week at Salem Church: Our Fellowship Coffee was at 8:30 a.m. followed by our Worship Service was at 9 a.m. Sunday School for all ages was at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Dave Long presented a thought-provoking message based on Scripture. Our greeters were Bruce and Sue Krammes. Our nursery attendant was Dorinda Moll, and our Junior Church leader was Kolleen Long.

Zion’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Perry Township

On Thursday, May 7 at 6:30 p.m., East Berks District Lutherans gather at Zion Union Church, Maxatawny for their spring assembly.

Come and worship with us on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10 at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Make mom and grand mom happy, worship with them! The Sunday School program begins at 9:15 a.m. with classes for all ages. Vicar Julie Osterhout, serving Salem Lutheran Church in Bethel will be the Guest Preacher for the day. During Sunday School, Julie will be speaking to the adults about “Strong Women of the 21st Century. Come and grow in your faith with us!

Zion’s celebrates Music Sunday on May 17 with all of the choirs and instrumental groups participating. A homemade meal of baked ziti and salad is offered beginning at noon with the proceeds benefiting the startup of a new drum circle group. Radio WZION will provide entertainment after the meal. Come learn about Johann Sebastian Bach during Sunday School.

You may now register to participate in Zion’s first ever Car/Vehicle Show to be held on Sunday, May 31. Bring your antique vehicle and/or your Toy Vehicle collection for display. Salem Belleman’s ChurchOn Sunday, May 3, Salem Belleman’s Church, 3540 Belleman’s Church Road, Mohrsville, celebrated the Fifth Sunday of Easter at the special Worship time of 10:15 a.m. This service was Pastor Bruce Potteigers’ last service at Belleman’s, as he begins his retirement. The congregation wishes Pastor Bruce a happy retirement, and thanks him for his years of service to our Lord here at Belleman’s.

Salem United Methodist Church Shoemakersville

Welcome to the corner of Sixth and Main Streets in Shoemakersville for our 9 a.m. worship service. The morning scripture is Jeremiah 18:1-11, and Pastor Rick’s message “A One Sentence Legacy” is from Luke 14:25-33. Classes for all are available after worship in Fellowship Hall. Pastor Rick is starting a Bible study on June 3. The subject is the book of Judges. Judges for You by Timothy Keller is the reference book for the study. The study will be held in Fellowship Hall starting at 6:30 p.m.

Administrative Council will meet on Monday, May 11 at 6:30 p.m.

Our church will be joining in the Children’s Fair Parade this year with a float. If you can help in any capacity please contact Sonja Rollman.

The Community Worship Service, celebrating 250 years of Shoemakersville is at the Shoey Park at 10 a.m. on June 7. A community choir will share special music.

We will have our annual Church in the Park on June 14, at 10:00 a.m. Debi Irene Wahl and friends will provide a special program for, followed by a covered-dish meal and games.

The Youth Mission Team is gearing up for its trip to Accident, MD on June 21-27. Some funding is still needed. Please help as God directs you.

Grief Share is offered Tuesdays at 7 p.m., and there is a cost for class materials. Grief Share is a grief recovery support group for anyone who has recently lost a loved one. Grief Share is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. This class can be joined at any point during its 13 week course. Don’t go through the challenge of loss alone. These support groups are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. You’ll gain access to valuable resources to help you deal with the pain and look forward to tomorrow.

Join Celebrate Recovery that meets on Monday Evenings at 7 p.m. Celebrate Recovery is a 12-step Recovery program where people gain freedom, healing, and accountability for life’s hurts, habits, and hang-ups. By applying the 8 Recovery Principles within the 12-step program, we open ourselves up to God’s grace so that we can break free. We also open the door to recovery by sharing our experiences and hopes with one another. Celebrate Recovery is open to men and women ages 18+. It’s not just for people struggling with substance abuse. This program is for anyone who feels like their life is out of control and is looking for a safe place to deal with a “hurt, habit, or hang-up.” Walk-ins welcome anytime! St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran “Smoke” Church

Bear Creek Camp – Residential: Bear Creek Camp’s residential program, for all children who have completed grades 1 -12, is a traditional camp program centered on spiritual growth, outdoor living and small group development. Day Camp: “Jesus Is” – June 22-26, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. An amazing Christ centered day camp for children who have completed Kindergarten – Grade 6. There is a cost which includes snacks, picture, t-shirt, pool admission and lots of fun!

Vacation Bible School: “Everest” – Sunday, July 12 – Thursday, July 16, 6 – 8:30 p.m. For ages 4 – completed Grade 6. New friends, amazing experiments, glacier games, lip-smacking snacks, surprising adventures, and incredible music.

“Parish Education Celebration”- May 17 at 10:15 a.m. Family Worship Service. Children who have participated in Sunday School and Catechetical Classes will be recognized during a special children’s chat. Summer programs will be introduced through songs and videos. During the service on May 10 there will be a quilt display and Pastor Kistler will deliver a brief Quilt Blessing litany prior to their being transported to the World Distribution Center. We hope the congregation will take time to view the many quilts on display and perhaps plan to join the group.

The Project Workers are in need of clean sheets for filler between the top & bottom of the quilts. Please check your closest for any sheets that you are not using. Thank you.

Sunday, May 10 is Sixth Sunday of Easter. This will be our Quilt Blessing Worship Service at 10:15 a.m. The next Saturday Night Communion Service will be on June 6 at 5:30 p.m.

Salem-Berne United Methodist Church

Join us May 10 for Morning Worship at 10:15 a.m. The Liturgist is Phil Geschwindt. The Children’s Message will be given by Lisa Francis and Acolyte is Aydin Kleinfelter. The Altar flowers are presented in the honor of Mothers by Marion Yeager.

On May 9, we will be making a trip to Mission Central of the Susquehanna Conference of the United Methodist Church to prepare “relief kits” for use around the world. On May 3, the Junior Choir, under the direction of Jamie Noon, traveled to Philadelphia to participate in the Simpson House Choir Festival to celebrate their Susquicentennial. Simpson House is a facility for elderly citizens. Everyone enjoyed an Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social after the choir festival.
