This week at Salem Church: Our Fellowship Coffee was at 8:30 a.m. followed by our Worship Service was at 9 a.m. Sunday School for all ages was at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Dave Long presented a dynamic message based on Scripture. Our greeters were Kevin and Sandy Towles. Our nursery attendant was Linda Wood, and our Junior Church leader was Tonia Krick.

Salem Belleman’s ChurchOn Sunday, May 17, Salem Belleman’s Church, 3540 Belleman’s Church Road, Mohrsville, celebrated the Seventh Sunday of Easter at the regular Worship times of 7:45 and 10:15 a.m. The musician for the early service was Carol Kissinger while Linda Hartman, The Director of Music Ministry, played for the second service. The Gospel reading was from Luke 24:44-53. On Sunday, May 17 Belleman’s celebrated Church Music Sunday during the 10:15 a.m. service. There were presentations from the Handbell Choirs, Children’s Choir and the Senior Choir. Rev. Joe Long served as the supply pastor for the services.

Belleman’s will be holding its 88th annual Memorial Day celebration on Monday, May 25. The celebration includes picnic foods served in the refreshment stand of the Fellowship Hall beginning at noon and continuing until 8 p.m. Also, during the 3 o’clock hour there will be a Memorial Day worship in the cemetery. The night is capped off with a concert by the Washington Band of Annville in the bandstand from 5 – 8 p.m. All are invited to attend!

The joy and the blessing of the Sabbath begin this Friday evening at 8:22 p.m.

FRIEDENS CHURCH SHARTLESVILLEYou are always welcome at Friedens located at 28 Wolf Creek Road. We hope you will join us on Saturday at 5 p.m. for Encounters Worship in our outdoor chapel (weather permitting). The chapel is located towards the rear of our property and can be accessed through the cemetery. The fourth Parking is available at the chapel. During May, our Sunday services will be held at 7:45 and 10:30 a.m. Pastor Inge Williams officiates at all three services.

On Sunday, May 24, we will be honoring all veterans for their service to our country. Following the second service, the flags that were blessed will be taken to our cemetery and placed on the graves of all ninety four veterans, fourteen of whom served during the civil war.

As we will be closed on Memorial Day, our grief support group will not be meeting. This group meets here each Monday at noon with an occasional outing to restaurants in the area. They share a meal and deal with a variety of grief issues. All are welcome to attend.

Join us for Vacation Bible School Boot Camp. On June 7 come to our first 9:30 a.m. summer service and stay the day. The children will join us for Growing God’s Garden after the children’s message (during the service). The children need to bring their favorite vegetable for soup. Parents and friends are invited to join in at the conclusion of the service. We will go till 4 p.m. and lunch will be served.

Celebrate 250th Anniversary of Shoemakersville by worshipping in the Shoey Park with us on Sunday, June 7 at 10 a.m. Zion’s Brass will perform. Come to the 64th Children’s Parade and Carnival on Saturday, June 6 beginning at 11 a.m.

Summer Bible School for children age 3 to Grade 5 will be held June 22-26 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Registration forms are now available.

Volunteers are now needed each week in the Northern Berks Community Garden, located at Zion’s Lutheran, on Mondays from 8-10 a.m. and on Thursdays from 6-8 p.m.

Salem United Methodist Church Shoemakersville

Welcome to the corner of Sixth and Main Streets in Shoemakersville for our 9 a.m. worship service. The morning scripture is John 14:8-17, 25-27, and the pastor’s message “Sent to Serve,” is based on I Cor. 12:1-14. Classes for all ages are available following worship in Fellowship Hall. Starting on June 3, Pastor Rick is leading a study of Judges based on Judges for You by Timothy Keller. The Wed. evening study begins at 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets on Tuesday, May 26 from 6-8 p.m. If you have need of a prayer shawl, contact Carolann Seifrit.

May 30 is Youth Work Day at Pocono Plateau. Contact Mary Yoder to volunteer. This year the group will help replace a shed.

Our church is joining the Children’s Fair Parade to help celebrate Shoemakersville’s 250th Anniversary. We need help assembling the floats and we need walkers and riders for the parade. Let Sonja Rollman know how you can help. We also will join the Community Worship service on June 7 from 10-11 a.m.

Worship in the Park for Salem is on June 14 at 10 a.m. Debi Irene and friends will provide the program. The service will be followed by a covered-dish meal. Everyone is invited.

The Youth Mission Trip to Accident, MD is June 21-27. Pray for a blessed experience for our team as they serve families during the week.

VBS this year will be held at Salem on August 2-6. The theme is Creation. Many helping hands are needed. Joan Yoder is in charge, so let her know how you can help.

PENTECOST Next Sunday, May 24, is Pentecost Sunday. We will celebrate this festival of the beginning of the Christian Church with the Affirmation of Baptism (also known as Confirmation) and Holy Communion.

In honor of the coming of the Holy Spirit, we wear red to symbolize the power of God resting in each of us. Don’t forget to pick up your geraniums.

Grief Share is offered Tuesdays at 7 p.m., and there is a cost for class materials. Grief Share is a grief recovery support group for anyone who has recently lost a loved one. GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. This class can be joined at any point during its 13 week course. Don’t go through the challenge of loss alone. These support groups are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. You’ll gain access to valuable resources to help you deal with the pain and look forward to tomorrow.

We are hosting a Holy Spirit Conference on Friday, May 29 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 30 at 9 a.m. Special guest evangelists Andre van Zyl & Deon Vanstaden from South Africa will be teaching.
