On Saturday, Oct. 19, Conestoga Christian School’s high school boys’ soccer team won the CCAC (Commonwealth Christian Athletic Conference) soccer championship. The victory was achieved in a 2-1 game against Mount Calvary. This is the first year that CCS has won the championship. Last year they were eliminated in the finals. Near the end of this year’s season, the team’s starting goalie, Evan Detwiler, broke his hand and Gavin Mast played goalie for the final three games of the regular season and in the playoffs. Coach Phil Yoder says that the team was led by a core group of seniors. Five of the 19 CCS players were named to the CCAC all conference team: Brandon Herr, Turner Stoltzfus, Jon Shoup, Evan Detwiler and Eric Frymyer.
