With a 25 point fourth quarter, the Hamuburg Area High School girls’ basketball team defeated Trinity on Feb. 14 to capture the first district victory in the team’s history.

The win was in the preliminary round of the District 3-AA Tournament and advances the Lady Hawks to the first round, Hamburg, seeded 15th in the tournament, will take on Palmyra on Wednesday, Feb. 19. Palmyra is the number two seed of the tournament and the defending AA district champions.

The Hawks and Trinity were battling through a close game through three quarters, where the game was tied at 20-20. But Hamburg took over in the fourth quarter, outscoring Trinity, 25-10.

Kassidy Lesher led the way for Hamburg with 20 points in the game, including going 12-for-16 from the foul line. Hannah Schlegel and Sydney Lesher each had eight points and Nikkole James had five.’
