Two of the PA Strikers Fast Pitch Softball Teams, based in Morgantown, recently won first place in the ‘Spring Thaw Tournament’ held over the weekend of April 12 and 13 in Morgantown.
The two-day tournament was hosted by the PA Strikers Organization which has six softball teams collectively: a 10U, a 12U, two 14U teams, a 16U team and an 18U Showcase Team.
The 14U Black team on Saturday lost to the Exton Millenium, the Sting Black and the Delco Rage, they won against the EB Impact. This competitive team of girls came back with a vengeance and a mission to win on Sunday. They proceeded to win all 4 games including the championship game. The Strikers beat the Xtreme 10-4; shut out the Valley Forge Patriots, 12-0; defeated the Sting Swarm 10-7 in the semi-final game and beat the U13 Outlaws 13-3 in the Championship game.
The 10U PA Strikers went undefeated (5-0) in Living Good Park in Elverson, PA to win the 10 U division trophies! After taking down three teams on Saturday from the Exton Millennium, the Nook Softball Academy and the Xtreme, the young Striker girls sailed through the Sunday finals by defeating the Warrington Blue Thunder and the Xtreme. The girls only gave up one run in the two games they played on Sunday. The Striker pitchers struck out 42 batters in the five games played and the team mustered an amazing 44 hits from the plate in the early Spring Tournament.
The PA Strikers 10U and 14U Black teams next head to Diamond Nation in Flemington, N.J., next week where they will face fierce competition in the 2014 Jennie Finch Spring Invitational!
The PA Strikers have played in various tournaments this past fall and are gearing up now for their spring and summer tournaments.
