Kutztown

The Kutztown American Legion baseball team began the week with a 3-1 eight inning victory over Fleetwood. Dustin Smith tripled in the winning run in the top of the eighth.

Kutztown took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third, but Fleetwood came back to tie the game with a run in the bottom of the first.

Kyle Hartman was the winning pitcher, going the distance for the Cougars. He allowed nine hits and struckout six.

On June 10 Kutztown shutout Wyomissing, 2-0. Hunter Mease was the winning pitcher, allowing just four Wyomissing hits.

Austin Isamoyer led the Kutztown offense with two hits and one RBI. Kutztown had just five hits in the game.

Fleetwood Sr. Legion

The Fleetwood Wildcats opened the week with a 3-1 extra inning loss to Kutztown. The Cougars scored twice in the top of the eighth to pull out the win.

Kutztown took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third, but Fleetwood came back to tie the game with a run in the bottom of the first.

On June 9, the Wildcats were at home against Hamburg. Fleetwood jumped out to a 5-0 lead with four runs in the third and one more in the fourth, then hung on for a 5-4 victory.

Clay Weidemoyer was the winning pitcher, fanning 10 batters in six innings. He also helped the offense with a home run.

On June 9, Fleetwood traveled to Temple to take on the Muhlenberg As. The Wildcats plated four runs in the top of the seventh to pull out an 8-4 victory.

Muhlenberg took a 3-0 lead with three runs in the bottom of the second. Fleetwood came back with four in the fifth to take a 4-3 lead.

Oley/Topton

On June 7, the Patriots played a pair of games against Pine Grove. In the opener, both teams were held to one hit, but Pine Grove scored two runs in the top of the sixth to win the game, 2-0.

Michael Hunter pitched five shutout, no-hit innings before by Fox who gave up the two Pine Grove runs in the sixth.

Matt Fisher had Oley/Toptons lone hit.

In the second game, the Patriots got their revenge with a 4-2 victory over Pine Grove. With the game tied at 1-1, Oley/Topton scored two in the fourth and one more insurance run in the sixth.

Hunter had two of the Patriots nine hits in the game, and scored two runs. Wentzel had a double and two RBIs. Nick Distasio added a triple.

Distasio was the winning pitcher, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and no walks in five innings of work. He struckout seven. Fisher picked up a save, hurling the last two innings.
