MORGANTOWN– The PA Strikers U14 Black Fast Pitch Softball Team recently won First Place in the ASA Central Atlantic National Qualifier held over the weekend of June 7 and 8 in Dover, Delaware. The two-day tournament was a National Qualifier meaning the winner of the tournament would earn a ‘berth’ to the ASA Nationals being held in late July in San Diego, California.

The 14 U Black team on Saturday lost to the Lower South Liberty, PA 7-1 and then they defeated the Delaware Cobras 11-1. On Sunday, the girls won against the Paoli Express 9-2, the Lower South Liberty, NJ 6-4 and defeated the Maryland Legends 9-1 in the semi final game. In the Championship game, they once again faced the Lower South Liberty, PA and defeated them 10-1 in 5 innings. This final win earned the girls a trip to San Diego, CA for the ASA National Tournament. As of now, they will be the ONLY 14 U team from PA playing in the Nationals in San Diego, CA.

In order to help pay for costs associated with going to San Diego, the team is holding numerous fundraisers including a Vera Bradley Bag Bingo being held on Friday, July 18th at the Norco Firehall located on Route 724 in Pottstown. Tickets are available now and will be available at the door. Please visit the PA Strikers website for more information about this exciting fundraiser!

The PA Strikers have played in various tournaments this past fall and spring and are in full gear now for their summer tournaments. The team will compete this summer in roughly 6 Tournaments between now and August.
