The Boyertown Lady Ballers, a high School varsity summer basketball team, played in the annual Stellar Basketball Tournament held at Cedar Beach Park in Allentown.
Starting with a victory on July 11, the girls continued play on July 12 with a win against Salisbury first, then suffering a loss in their second game to Southern Lehigh, placing them in the losers bracket the next day.
The Lady Ballers played a total of five games on Sunday defeating top caliber programs to include the Freedom, Dieruff, Nazareth and Palisades varsity teams. The Lady Ballers landed in the championship game vs. Parkland. Down four points with three minutes to go, the girls played with patience and determination, never giving up. This determination led to several big plays, one including a basket made in the final three seconds to tie the game at 23-23.
In overtime, the Ballers continued to play strong offense and an unyielding defense to win the game, 24-23. This is the first time the Boyertown Ballers have won this tournament. As they always say when they begin or end any team huddle, -they did it together.
The team is comprised of Katie Armstrong, Ali Bauman, Ana Blanch, Sam Brensinger, Megan Christman, Maria Garofolo, Hannah Jaskuta, Abby Kapp, Taylor Landis,
Allison Marcus, and Jordan Webb.
The team is coached by Jason Bieber, Michelle Hartman and Lauren Walker.
