The Kutztown Dolphins swim team defeated the teams from Topton and Robesonia to finish the regular season undefeated in the Arctic Division of the Berks County Swimming Association. This is the Dolphins’ first winning season since 2007.

The Dolphins defeated the Topton Torpedoes, 249 to 220, on July 14, to bring their record to 4-0 in league competition. Highlights from the meet include the following:

Relays: All girls medley relay teams for each age group won their respective race and four out of five girls free relays won their race as well.

Emma Rhode took first place in all three of her individual events

13-14 girls: Mya Keim and Nikolette Nolte each took first place in two individual events and contributed to a winning relay team.

13-14 boys: Kian Kanaskie took first place in two individual events

9-10 boys: Cole Chukoskie took first place in two individual events

The Dolphins then defeated the team from Robesonia, 208-189, for their fifth and final win of the season. Highlights from the meet include the following:

All Dolphin boys and girls relay teams swept their respective free and medley relays.

11-12 boys: Kian Kanaskie took first in three individual events!

11-12 girls: Devan Hanna posted her top 50 breaststroke time of the season which earned her the top seed for the Berks County Silver Championships.

Greta Feiertag took first in two individual events and contributed to a winning relay team.

13-14 girls: Nikolette Nolte took first in two individual events and contributed to a winning relay team.

15 & over girls: Karlie Heistand took first in two individual events

This meet proved to be a real family affair in which Dolphin swim families with multiple Dolphin swimmers all scored points. Families with all swimmers in their family scoring points included the following:

Kanaskie boys: Trevor, Christian and Kian

Ott family: Sydney and Robbie

Mace family: Evie, Julie and Meredith

Kunkel family: Elissa, Hallie, Landon and Morgan

Dunn family: Cooper and Jordan

Chukoskie family: Cole, Joe and Jeannie

Goodwin family: Gracie and Madison (Gracie earned her first ever County qualifying time in the 8 & under girls 25 meter breast event)

Furst family: Dalton and Samantha Furst

There were also great strides made by the Mini Dolphins swim team this season. The Mini Dolphins team was formed for pre-competitive swimmers who had yet to master the basic competitive strokes, but aspired to participate in the competitive program at some point in their future.

Eleven swimmers registered for the program which was headed by volunteer Coach Jeannie Chukoskie. Amazingly, a great number of Mini Dolphin team members progressed to the point at which they were able to move-up and compete in swimming competitions.
