Twin Valley High School Boys Soccer is on a roll this season with an overall record of 14 wins, 2 losses, and 1 tie. They are currently holding first place in the division 2 league.

Oct. 1, Boys soccer had their Pink Out Game against Hamburg Area High School. They beat Hamburg with a final score of 5-1.

The game had been tied the first half of the game and the second half until there was less then 30 minutes on the clock. Junior, Jared Lawler had scored the header goal, the goal that broke the tie. This started up the team.

Not even 30 seconds after that goal, freshman, Ryan Wallace, scored goal number three, giving Twin Valley a lead by two.

The pressure was on when Twin Valley was given a penalty kick and Coach Christian Murray appointed Craig Delong to make the fourth goal at about 10 minutes to go. The final goal had been made in the last few seconds of the game by Zach Patterson, leaving Twin Valley with yet another defeat against Hamburg Area High School.

Player Craig Delong had said, “I think the team played well. Once we scored our first goal we came together more as a unit and scored more goals.”

The students are really proud of the boys soccer team, and enjoying supporting them.

Student Chris Swan said, “I think they’re doing really well. Last I heard they were at the top of their division, which is always good, and they definitely give their 100 percent whenever they’re out on the field.”

The boys have had a great season so far and it still isn’t over.

The stands had almost been full for the Pink Out Game, so the boys were really feeling the support that game. Player Chris Mundell had said “The amount of people that came out was awesome to see, and having the student section and drum-line was motivating.”

Players weren’t the only ones that enjoyed the pink-out. Students really enjoyed the excitement of the pink-out also. Swan had also said “I liked the student section. I thought the pink and white smoke that somebody brought was a great way of getting everybody pumped up before the game.”

The game had opened up then the introduction of the players and then the playing of the national anthem. The soccer team had then surprised the student section with pink and white smoke bombs to start off the game. Many of the students had enjoyed this. It was a nice surprise because many of them were unaware that those had been set up.

The boys soccer team had also invited the Twin Valley Boys U9 Soccer Club to join them on the field during the game. The U9 boys got to stand with the starting lineup on the field while the national anthem was sung and the starting lineups were introduced. The boys U9 team later got to play on the field during half time.

With all of the fun of the pink-out game aside, the point of the game was to raise money and awareness about cancer. Senior Cali Healy had been to many of the boys soccer games this season, but the Pink Out had been one of the better ones in her opinion.

“My favorite part of the Pink Out was seeing how many students came out to support such a good cause. There was triple the amount of students and they all came dressed in pink,” she said.

The boys had raised about $200 just that game to donate to cancer research. They had raised the money with a bake sale. A few of the boys had even baked themselves in order to help, not just the parents. They also sold Pink Out tshirts to raise money for the cause.

Twin Valley Boys Soccer only has one definite game left and that is Tuesday, Oct. 14. The game will be starting for JV at 5:30 p.m. and at 7 p.m. for Varsity.
