Swimming: Tri-Valley Girls undefeated in league and won 3rd Madison Division title; Boys finished with a winning record of 3-2-1

The Tri-Valley YMCA swim team (TRVY) has had an outstanding season marked by numerous firsts and record breaking accomplishments. The team competed in the Madison Division of the Penn-Del YMCA Swim League. Tri-Valley girls finished the dual-meet season UNDEFEATED in league competition and won the Madison Division title for the third straight season! Tri-Valley boys also finished the dual-meet season with a winning record of 3-2-1.

Highlights from the dual meet season included dramatic, hard-fought wins versus the teams from Bethlehem YMCA and the Upper Bucks YMCA. Points were not only scored by TRVY veteran swimmers, but also by a host of new TRVY swimmers who scored significant points for the team. New swimmers scoring significant points for the team include Skylar Strunk, Connor Shriver, Dylan Strella, Natalie Schappell, Gabriella Purcell and Jack Reppert. Also noteworthy is the fact that the 8 & under, 9-10, and 11-12 girls age groups finished the season undefeated in dual league competition. The TRVY successes did not end with league competition. TRVY swimmers carried the momentum to the YMCA Central PA District Championships.

A total of 36 swimmers qualified for the YMCA PA Central District Championships held at the York Graham Aquatic Center March 5th through the 8th. The district qualifiers included the following swimmers by age group:

10 & under: Aiden Adamski, Megan Brattley, Mary Carl, Noah Delong, Rachael Hess, Chase Moyer, Lauren Paules, Hailey Reinhard, Jack Reppert, Owen Roth, Natalie Schappell, Maren Schermerhorn, Catherine Sirignano, Kathryn Tanis, Rachel Wood, Dylan Yellets

11-12: Katie Bessey, Allison Brattley, Olivia Downs, Greta Feiertag, Sarah Fisher, Zack Moyer, Luke Rautzhan, Peyton Rautzhan, Kera Reinhard, Connor Shriver, Dylan Strella, Skylar Strunk

13-14: Shawn Bessey, Hannah Daniels, Michaela Hersh, Nicole Hipp, Mya Keim, Lauren Tanis, Drew Waters

15 & over: Devon KoehlerThirteen of the District qualifiers were first time qualifiers. First time district qualifiers include Megan Brattley, Mary Carl, Noah Delong, Rachael Hess, Chase Moyer, Zack Moyer, Owen Roth, Natalie Schappell, Connor Shriver, Dylan Strella, Skylar Strunk, Kathryn Tanis, and Rachel Wood

TRVY District swimmers swam extremely well and finished 9th in the Central PA District out of 24 teams. The TRVY girls finished 7th overall out of 23 teams and the TRVY boys finished 19th out of 24 teams. Highlights from the district meet include Central District record-setting first-place finishes by the girls 9/10 free relay of Maren Schermerhorn, Hailey Reinhard, Kathryn Tanis and Lauren Paules with a time of 2:01.53 as well as Maren Schermerhorn in the girls 50 free with a time of 27.75. The 11/12 girls free relay of Greta Feiertag, Sarah Fisher, Skylar Strunk, and Peyton Rautzhan also finished first in the District with a time of 1:50.68. Interestingly, each of the 11/12 girls free relay team members hail from a different school district. (Greta Feiertag – Kutztown, Sarah Fisher – Fleetwood, Skylar Strunk – Brandywine Heights, Peyton Rautzhan – East Penn)

The outstanding swims by TRVY swimmers at the Central District meet enabled 20 swimmers to qualify for the YMCA PA State Championship meet to be held at Penn State University March 20 – 22! State qualifiers include the following swimmers by age group:

10 & under: Aiden Adamski, Megan Brattley, Mary Carl, Rachael Hess, Lauren Paules, Hailey Reinhard, Maren Schermerhorn, Catherine Sirignano, Kathryn Tanis, and Dylan Yellets

11/12: Olivia Downs, Greta Feiertag, Sarah Fisher, Zack Moyer, Luke Rautzhan, Peyton Rautzhan, Connor Shriver, Dylan Strella, Skylar Strunk

13/14: Michaela HershSo far, at least three Tri-Valley records have been broken. All three records were broken by Maren Schermerhorn in the girls 9/10 group. New 9/10 girls TRVY records set by Maren include the following:

50 yard freestyle with a time of 27.75

50 yard butterfly with a time of 30.91

100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:15.17
